16 gauge coming back?

It's the cartridge that needs to be justified. I have many guns but would rather have multiple 20 gauges than adding a 16.

Your cartridge preference is entirely your privilage but if all cartridges needed to be justified then we wouldn't have hundreds of different rifle cartridges that will all kill a deer!
The only justification is to myself and I do buy what I want. What I don't want is a cartridge that is harder to get that comes in heavier guns when cartridges of equal effectiveness and the components for them are more available and the guns are usually lighter.
You understand it. I take the model 21 16ga out and load it with paper imperials ( which I am, getting low on ) and THERE IS NOTHING LIKE IT. Life is goodI have been shooting and reloading the 16ga since 1965 and still own just under 20 of them
I had to smile on a post about owning a lot of guns. What is a lot. The old farts I know have like 100 shotguns alone with many 16ga ( me just 86 shotguns ) and we don't worry about ammo for the 16ga since we all reload and were smart enough to stash 100's if not 1000's of compression formed AA hulls and Activ hulls as well and the vintage wads to suit both to do our lifetime plus flats of vintage winchester upland ammo which also has the old compression formed AA. I have two flats not even fired yet
It was best said some years ago on the 16ga form and as far as coming back as said earlier the 16ga never left

A man who identifies himself as a 16 gauge shooter is instantly elevated in "coolness" in any firearms circle. It immediately signifies one as being of good taste and judgement. If the shooter's firearm happens to be a fine English or high grade American double bearing an exceptional piece of french walnut and wearing the evidence of much use but great care, he will be spoken of in reverential tones. The only shooters who could hope to rival him are those who shoot fine doubles in short 10, 28 and 2 1/2" 12 bore.
You will be found to be one hell of a shooter and more interesting anywhere hunters and shooters gather. New shooters will instantly recognize you as the final word in all things shotgun. Women respond to men of good taste and refinement and will find you more attractive. Dogs are astute judges of character and will hunt better for you. In fact your best friend's dog may hunt better for you than him with his synthetic stocked jamamatic. Being a 16 gauge shooter, you are also gracious enough to hunt with him despite his lack of taste and character. You will essentially be the shooting fraternity's version of the world's most interesting man in the shotgun world.

I thought the same at the time I first read it but hey
Just glad I grew up when I did and learned to appreciate shotguns of all gauges for more than a disposable tool like today especially looking at what is now seen as sought after quality vintage ones but sure were not seen that way when we bought them new LOL
If we only knew I sure would have stocked up on more model 12 28ga and winchester model 21. I just love when Rob posts some pics of his wicked collection
No plastic alloy crap in our day and it shows which is why we still have them looking and operating like the day they were made many years ago and will do many more generations after us
Those who don't appreciate a 16ga have not owned or shot one enough to pass judgement IMHO but I know the internet said so that has to be right
Wonder how many 20 ga they will buy today for 200 bucks that will be worth over 10 grand or before they die or even better how many will even last that long How about NONE
16ga shooters were way ahead of their time, Christ we were shooting biodegradable paper hulls and wads before anyone even cared about the environment LOL

HAHA, yeah they make great finished ammo!
I have them for 20,16, 12 and gauge.
Those 16's are 2 1/2's BTW for my Bohler Stahl drilling

I Actually sold most of my shotguns because I wasn't using them and decided to put the money I to compo ants- then that great little drilling came along and the plan was derived yet again! LOL
However, I still like the 16 gauge and that particular 16 is a joy to hunt with and shoot and the roll crimped ammo just adds a little extra class !
