Stiga 30-06

the only Swede`s that seem to have a problem are `42 swedes, just a few, and all chambered in 6.5x55. I have a Stiga in .270 Win, it is over 400 rds, no problems nor should there be. I have also seen them in 9.3 x 62. Stiga`s, Alpen and Falun rifles seem to be econo rifles compared to Huskys in Sweden.

I believe Stiga, Alpen and Falun all use Sile stocks from Italy. Stiga uses S&L barrels, I do not know about the others.

I had one and never had a problem with it.

I shot factory ammo in it.

It got sold to an older gentleman who saw it and just had to have it, and he was just beaming when I accepted his generous offer on it.

Still kind of miss it.

I have a STIGA in 30-06 and used to be concerned about it - M94/M96 action and all. Very clearly looking at underside, the receiver has been relieved from a standard M94/M96 opening in 6.5x55 - some material is removed from behind the lower bolt lug recess - to allow a longer than normal magazine box to be installed. Baribal explained in a post on CGN about "proof testing" - I started the thread, so can find it by looking for threads started by me -

- was done to those rifles in Denmark - is not a requirement in Canada or USA - those STIGA rifles with Danish made barrels successfully passed Danish proof testing - so likely a 125% load or loads - is enough for me - no worries about firing factory or SAAMI pressure loads in those rifles. I am not going to "hot rod" the thing though - very clearly was proof tested, at the time, to handle standard 30-06 pressure - no doubt 40 or 50 years of corrosion or whatever on a garbage bin or damp basement stored piece might take away from that...
