just wondering the best way to install stud swivels on my 870 shotgun. it has a synthetic stock so do i just drill the buttstock and screw the stud in like i would if it were wood?
it's been stated elsewhere, that with synthetic stocks, after drilling and threding through the stud, at least put some blue locktite on the threads or a large ball of glue around the threads on the inside of the stock to keep it from pulling out. there's not that much material to hold the stud without some reinforcement. the forend cap can be replaced with an 870 cap with a swivel attached

My preference after doing that would be to build a ball of epoxy around the thread protruding in the hollow stock. It would give considerably more support in all directions...
