Ok, I need help .... what is this? Is this an elk?

I have owned this property for 13 years ... and my trail cameras are up for the last 5 years now ... all year round. And never have I seen an elk out there ..... or heard one ... or caught one on camera ...

So, I am a bit puzzled .... ?? :confused:

Is anybody aware of elk east of Ottawa in Ontario?

Elk around tweed Ontario, might be an escapee from a game farm. Their good at spreading CWD. I’ve also seen a picture of a bull elk in the winter with sheep beaded done around it. This was in the winter near rice lk Ontario. No idea where the elk came from (wasn’t farmed).

There is an elk farm in Kanata, West of Ottawa might have came from there.
 
Actually there has been reports of a small herd of wild elk that some how made it down here they have been sighted out someplace near Rockland
 
A friend of mine bought a farm property just east of Casselman a couple of years ago and there was some talk from the property owners around that there were elk.

He has seen tracks a couple of times but no live critters or on the cameras yet,
 
I'm looking at the fairly uniform colouration on the neck and chest, and wondering if there are any game farms in the area that keep European red deer? Red deer and elk are very closely related, some would say the same species with minor morphological differences. I've seen Red deer in Germany and New Zealand, and plenty of elk locally, and i'm curious about that picture. Of course the poor light, wet fur and frontal view could be deceiving my eyes.
