What are you fellas using? Is there anything out there in a 2 point that is not as prone to slipping or sliding off your shoulder?

Check out https:// appaloosaleather.com great made in Canada leather, choose suede lined for anti slipping

I make my own out of thick vegtan leather, I like it a lot, the rough under side of the leather help keeping it in place!!

Over the years I've found the best sling is a leather military style. Once you learn how to properly sling it you can adjust it on the go.

Here's a photo of one of my rifles with a Winchester period correct military sling. Look closely to how it is hooked up. Pull on the outer part of the sling and it lengthens. Pull on the inner part of the sling and it shortens up. If it's hooked up correctly you can adjust it with the gun slung on your shoulder. Also, I've found the narrow sling stays put on you're shoulder better.

I use XL uncle mikes slings, they are cheap but have never failed me

I have a few military style slings as well but I find they dig into your shoulder. The big ones are more comfortable for 15 k mountain days at work.

Interested in Rhodesian slings if anyone uses them

Try a black nylon Uncle Mike’s Mountain Sling, it has some anti-slip material on the back. I prefer to attach the sling “upside down”, so the rifle can be slung on the off shoulder with the barrel down, much faster into action. WK

I have an Outdoor Connection sling and a Magpul MS-1 which both work great as "slings", as in, pop the rear swivel off the rifle and loop your arm for stability as a shooting aid. The material on the Magpul sling is a lot better, both the polymers and the sling itself as well as the matching QD swivels (and they work nicely with my BAR).

As "carry straps" go, I have a Butler Creek sling which has a nice springiness to it, and a Cabela's sling which is a little less springy but has 3 cartridge loops which I like for my single shot.

I've also got a single-point sling, but nothing to clip it on to as of now.

Wow! Same, same here!!! I often use that very same carry! Not sure they are still "Uncle Mike's", though - the first ones that I bought were; last one that I bought is labeled "Butler Creek". Has integral "QD" loop swivel attachments - coils up nice in pocket for walking in - rifle in the hands; quick connect to studs on rifle for the walk out. Probably should be called a "carry strap" - not so much a "sling" - but likely splitting hairs about words...

i have a 3 point sling that i use on my rem 700s.i got a gunsmith to fix a 3inch pictinany rail to the fore end and use
mapul attachment which my HK hook attaches to
pm me and i will text/email pics

i understand what troubles you are having while carrying a rifle hunting.
this way both my hands are free and the rifle is so much easier to lump around

WK & 'miner - I sling muzzle down too, leaves my right hand free and is much quicker bringing up. However, I just use luggage shoulder straps instead of 'real slings'. I found one on a Samsonite laptop case at Sally's. It has a movable 'pad' to 'balance' the weight and is long enough to wrap on my arm to brace a shot as well.

I only use Quake "The Claw" slings... they stay put on your shoulder and are flexible enough for three-point shooting.

I use a 1 1/4 inch Rhodesian sling made by Andy's Leather. It carries nice and is easy to shorten or lengthen in the field as required.

My main reason for buying it however is that I use it as a proper shooting sling since I no longer wish to use a bipod (which to me simply adds unbalanced weight on the wrong end of the rifle).

I use the sling standing and sitting. I generally shoot off my day pack in prone.

I carry most rifles slung across my chest in front ready carry ( think military style carry) I shoot with the sling on but I'm totally hands free while walking I use a Vickers style 2 point. This carry method works great for me in the thick stuff as it is super fast to just shoulder the rifle and shoot but I can also be completely hands free to climb/ step over down fall and the rifle is never larger/ taller than my body so it never catches or bangs on things as i duck and weave through heavy timber. For on the shoulder carry it totally depends if your wearing a pack or not. If not I like the Quaker sling design or any of the rubber style slings like the ultimate gun sling. If wearing a pack I use a strap keeper fastend to my pack strap to keep the rifle from slipping off.. I also use the front ready carry method with a pack by attaching right to the pack harness to carry the rifle.. for my hunting method having the rifle quick to hand yet hands free and also never dropping lower than my knees for stepping over dead fall or sticking up or out higher or wider than my body is huge.

Everything I hunt with or take into the bush wears a Vickers BFG sling, I’ve always liked a military web sling and the Vickers takes that to the next level with the quick adjust slider.

I second this, it’s a fantastic sling! I now have half a dozen unused slings in my drawer; the BFG gets clipped in whichever rifle is headed out.
