Chiappa 1892 carbine NSR?

Hello everyone,

I’m in the market for a pistol caliber lever action rifle and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this rifle? I’m looking at getting it in the .44mag model. How does the Chiappa action and quality compare to the American brand levers? Any experience or tips would be appreciated.

I have one is .44mag and it’s a great package with the short barrel, sights and rail. Action out of the box was smoother than my Marlin or Henry and build quality is excellent and the trigger is very good.

Functions without issue, here is mine

Didn't mean it was bad but is noticeable in shorter / lighter barreled rifles. Unable to comment on the recoil differences between 44 special and 44mag, as 44 special is a more uncommon caliber and is more to a hand loader fodder. If you hand load well you can tailor you loads to your needs .::wave:

Can confirm that the 12” barreled NSR in .44 mag holds 6 in the tube

Between the chiappa and Rossi 1892’s I found the fit and finish (internal parts especially) to be a bit better on the chiappa with a smoother operation out of the box. Also not a huge deal but I like the lack of an additional safety the chiappa with being more faithful reproduction to the original design.

Can’t speak to the latest Rossi guns that are coming in now, at a higher price point than they used to be, but I’ve heard they did make a step up quality.

On the NSR model in particular the short barrel, full stock, peep sights and optics rail is a combination not many factory offerings have and a great value

Just got a Chiappa NSR in 44 mag in the mail yesterday. Smooooth action and it inserted/extracted my 44 mag dummy rounds without any issue. Lighter than I thought it would be. Range is closed till the 5th but I'll try it out as soon I can.
 
I own an 1892 mares leg and previously owned an Alaskan 16". Both chiappa and in 44mag. Really miss the Alaskan joy to shoot, and the mares leg is awesome, Holter and all.
Mares leg does not like to be cold though. But that could be a lube issue on my part.
Great quality guns. I'm also looking at an NSR.
