Finnish M39 Mosin Nagant

Well Mowbray stated " ...The result ( M39) was a sturdy rifle that proved to be one of the most accurate military bolt actions ever issued "
That'd be Stuart Mowbray... makes the Google search and retort that much faster.
And, yeah... I do think Stuart knows his milsurps.

Edit; It's quoted correctly too. He wrote exactly that.
Not the most accurate amongst 'Garbage Rod's'...the most accurate amongst them all. Mausers, LE, carcano, Springfield... the whole lot.
I still think M39's carry like a 4" fencepost... but they have the ability to shoot... so that is a bonus.

My point is that closed ended statements like the one I responded to are not useful at all (are usually based on no real data) and contribute to a body of supposed facts which become accepted without exploring beyond that closed end. Clearly no consideration was given to other well set up Mosin rifles like the M28, M28-30, VZ 54, M28-57, M28-66, 7.62 Tkiv 85 and so on. If such a comparison exists, I'd very much like to see it.

Your Mowbray quote is open ended. From the body of your edit, you've missed this yourself even in your given quote he does not say "the most accurate them all" which is your take away. The words "one of" actually contribute a lot to the meaning of his sentence. I have no disagreement that M39s in general do in fact shoot well, I enjoy mine very much.

Yes it is open ended in that it isn't accompanied by targets comparing the accuracy between various models.
Stuart is a popular NRA photographer IIRC. Sure lends a hand towards serious coffee table books on military arms. So I give his opinion credeance... possibly a mistake on my behalf.
If you have any input on the various models... don't leave us hanging now?
I've had the M39 series ( with one that was D & T...not by me thank god), 91/30's, a waffenamp'd M44 and finally found my forever M/N in a Finn'd M91 PTG.
No expert here by any means. Don't even like target shooting, how am I to sound off on the merits of various models and loads?
I actually take mine out hunting and shooting, safe queens are lost on me.
But I also have a soft spot for 'Garbage Rods' as some might call them. Hence my input. An enthusiast at best.
If you bring something that you've not put forth yet...please do.

Please tell me which different models of Mosin you've tested, how many of each model and how you calculated that conclusion? Youtube videos and "common" knowledge don't count.

I can attest that my m39 is as accurate if not more than any of my mosins .the only ones that could sorta keep up were one Ukrainian refurb 91/30 and a polish m44. And that was supported front and back.
