CF small arms trial completed

You would not believe how many officers cannot even install the barrel on the HP. I show them once take it out have them do it for themselves and they still have difficulty. Lack of training is a big factor, some reach the rank of Capt and still never even fired the 9mm.

Just because you are educated, doesn't mean you are smart. Book smarts vs Street smarts. I remember taking one apart, when I was in Cadets. I might been 14 or 15. They freaked as they didn't think I would known how to. I mean the biggest obstacle was, which way the spring guide went.

CZ now owns Colt Canada which as first rights on any new small arms for the CAF, So I doubt any other company will sell their TDP to a rival competitor. My bet is either on the CZ Shadow 2 or P-10. I have seen the CAF requirements for a new pistol and the Glock was automatically out because of the pulling trigger to disassemble feature, but so does the P-10 so who knows what they select. The requirement is also for a modular pistol so then the Shadow 2 is out. The Sig P320 seems to fit all requirements.

I mean, I'm a giant CZ whore, like, giant dong sucking CZ whore, but the above made me cough up UB splooge. There is absolutely zero chance of a Shadow 2 being chosen for our military. Zero. The P10, sure, if it meets requirements, CZ will submit it, and I know they want to. But a Shadow 2? yeah. no.

Another delay, like it or not Glock isn't going to win....they will re-write it again for what they want. Not saying it's right, just how it will be in the end.
Striker fired, polymer and modular, like the US Forces RFP, only Sig P320 actually met the modular part as written.

the P10 isn't modular so if that's a requirement it's out. Of all the requirements the modular one is the dumbest.

And thats the part that the CITT just told DND to rewrite. DND can not possibly justify the requirement, and the requirement eliminates 95% of the pistols out there that would otherwise be an excellent choice.

Yeah and the Shadow 2 isn't a combat proven gun anyways. Also the price of them and the fact triggers are too damn light, DND would reject them based on that. Then there is the adjustable sights, front fibers breaking. I could see maybe putting in a CZ 75 SP01 PCR if they wanted a hammer fired, As it got close to a 5# SA trigger, but def not the Shadow line.

Gotta be able to withstand being thrown in a milk crate with others.

When I read the first post I thought it might be dated April 1. Trudeau spending money on pistols for the CAF will happen about the same time the Leafs win the Stanley Cup after dethroning the Vancouver Canucks.

The fact the US adopted the 320 ought to tell us where the CAF pistol contract is likely going. The RCMP will get the same gun by default. just don't get your hopes up with Trudeau in power.

To the member who suggested the CZ Shadow2....what have you got against the CAF.

Take Care

FFS, maybe this time around we need Colt Canada to ram P10C down our throat so this saga will be over immediately. So tired of this merry go around, just dump the BHP and get a plastic gun as quickly as possible. BHP is done, and was done twenty years ago.

Enter the ####ty deal we have with Colt Canada . A made in Canada deal that delivers nothing but overpriced products with a long list of Former CF members at the trough acting like entitled greedy pigs .

You should look at the #### show the sniper rifle competition. Sako won, but failed every test. CADEX lost despite winning every test. I wonder if it has to do with CADEX letting them build at Colt Canada and refusing

The CF wanted a Off the shelf commercial sniper rifle from a manufacture Cadex is not a big enough player perhaps

Also MRAD is now going to almost everywhere, wonder why they stated they didn't want an American produced sniper rifle?

It’s not just an Officer thing, however your point stands. Last time I did a pistol qual was sometime around 2011.

This whole saga is disappointing. Americans & Danes have P320. UK, France, Finland, Norway, Australia, & NZ amongst others have Glock 17/19. Just buy one and be done. Like most other things in the procurement pipe, nearly anything modern is superior to what is currently in service.

This what procurement depends on - they eff around like a ship's cat then people start to lose their sh*t, and the .mil takes it up the backside. In the meantime someone's brother-in-law becomes a required "sales agent" for company A, and gets a nice "commission cheque". Alternatively someone retires from polishing a chair with his *ss, and gets a nice job title with said company, because of his "expertise" with the CAF. Procurement in this country is ugly and crooked.

Time on the range with the BHP depends on where you are posted to, I have qualified every year on the pistol when posted to front line units and SVC BN's. A miserable day on the range is better than a day in the office. The biggest problem was the magazines with the BHP, once the CAF went with new production mags most of the stoppages went away. Easy way to tell was new ones are blued with a plastic follower and the old ones are parkerized with aluminum follower. When Afghanistan started up, the CAF used up all the NOS pistols in depot so now forget about getting a new one when one is returned to supply as BER.
