Newly purchased. Not fire yet.

Manually cycled and dry fired a few dozen times over a few weeks probably.

Safety plunger, which is plated, already flaking off.

Guess they had to save that 0.1 - 1 cent after all.

What a joke...

No big deal. It’s a service pistol not a collectible. Load it up and enjoy.
There is nothing to it. You know they fire the gun at the factory don’t you ? And they don’t clean them before packaging…
 
Really..... Are we actually searching this hard for something to complain about ? like Janeau said, its a service pistol, a tool and a purpose build firearm. It is not a precision fit custom shop pistol or a collectors piece. Put the dam slide back on and shoot the thing.
 
This looks like normal wear. I have yet to see a single pistol without wear like that. That slide looks rather dry, you even bother to oil the thing?

Here’s a crazy and unique thought why not contact the store you purchased it through ? They can then contact the Glock rep who is in Canada vs posting it on CGN ?

I'm anticipating that the time spent doing so will greatly surpass the gun's value.

I paid the agreed price and did not get was was agreed upon. That is the whole point of a contract.

This part and its plating flaking off before use is simply unacceptable.

Say what you want.
 
Did you consider contacting Glock (or a Glock warranty centre), to see what they'd say?

I suspect that - if you give them a chance - your concerns would be addressed to the point of (your) satisfaction.
 
If you are planning on shooting it, it is going to start showing more wear than that so you better not even look at it after you fire it. I guarantee it will never look new again.

I am no Glock fan, but the Glock is a utilitarian pistol not an art-form; and they are known for longevity, reliability and accuracy; certainly not their looks.
 
This is not exactly uncommon. 3 options. Option A is to reach out for warranty. Option B is purchasing a new plunger for 8$ and installing it yourself. Option C is to lightly sand and polish the flakes away because you have nothing else to lose. Most people go with option C but have a contingency for option B. Google 25 Cent trigger job while your at it.
 
I don't really see anything flaking off there, I see a mark from the trigger bar, but that's not really avoidable if you pull the trigger.
