Just saw the post about the Mossberg and didn’t want to derail.

I have not compared, but I assume the 300 blackout is similar to a 7.62x39 or 30-30 type performance?

Any experience on what is actually similar in a bolt action sort of setup? Is it useful on game?

Thanks!

Similar, yes. Good for deer out to 150y I'd say.
Excellent performance out of ultra short barrels, easy and cheap to reload for. Even with all the shortages, lightweight 30 cal bullets are still easy to find everywhere. As is magnum pistol powder. You can make brass pretty easily out of 223 range pickups with a cheap cutoff saw and jig from Amazon. Some of the mil brass needs to be neck turned though.
I tinkered with a 10.5" barreled Renegade, 110 vmax on top of H110 got 2260fps at the highest node. 135 Sierra varminters were in the 2050fps range. If I did it again I'd probably get a 16" barrel, would gain another 150+fps and still be handy. Rifle shot moa or better out to 100. Way more accurate than any 7.62x39 I've ever touched.

I've had one for years, great fun at the range.not comparable to the 7.62 or 30 30, they are 200 metre cartridges the blk. Only shoots OK flat for 150 meters, so only covers maybe half the area of a 30 30, so ya, pretty useless, although I have shot mine a lot. It only holds about half the powder or less than that of the 30 30

Fun little cartridge but yeah it needs a suppressor. I sold my bolt action..
Would rather a 7.62x39 for a truck gun

Yes I read stuff like that before I bought my blk, I was pushing high pressure with 130s at less speed than that, and it's still less than a heavier 30 30 bullet, now I use cheap campro 147 plinkers, with 14 gr. Of n110 for a nice target load at over 1700 I forget exactly. A higher pressure rating and hype can't come close to the double capacity of the 30 30.

350 legend supposedly mimics the 30/30.

A buddy of mine hunts with an ar pistol 300 black suppressed from his tree stand in eastern Kansas. Pretty close range stuff I think

I hit 2220 fps with H110 & LilGun in my 16.5" Blackout, with 125gr Hornady SST and Nosler BT. No pressure issues for me

Those are predictions. The most n110 I could get in my case was 16.8, less than max loads and sometimes the case would c rack in the middle . My barrel is 16 inch I think I didn't break 2100fps with 125s I see on rereading you did get close to quickload I can't argue but I found published max loads mostly were unobtainable in my rifle

I'm getting 2350fps with H110 and 110 gr bullet in a Ruger American Ranch
I'm also getting 1800fps with 180gr bullet on top of CFE BLK

I have a NEF/AAC Handi-Rifle with a 16" barrel and there are a few N Ontario whitetails that didn't like being poked with it at all. I am currently shooting Nosler 125gr Ballistic Tips and Sierra 125gr Tipped Game Kings out of it over an over book charge of H110/W296 for almost 2300, and out to 150m or so it puts them where they need to be and gets good results.

Easy to make brass for and cheap to shoot - can't ask for more than that unless you think whitetails require a .300 Win Mag. To top it off, it's only 29" long overall...
