I am contemplating changing my CZ Shadow for a Shadow 2 Optic-Ready.

Online documentation is unfortunately not clear whether I need to purchase an additional mounting plate, and if any RDS can be mounted directly onto the slide, and if so, which ones?

Thanks in advance.

You're going to need a mounting plate. If the sight you're mounting has a trijicon RMR footprint you need the RMR mounting plate. For example the holosun red dots have a RMR footprint. If you're mounting a vortex, you need a different plate.

I believe there are three different plates available for this pistol. One for the RMR, Vortex and Leupold. Any optic with similar footprints to these brands will fit with the corresponding plates. Hope this helps.

^^^ What he said, and it doesn't come with.
You'll also lose the rear sight so no co-witness.

The Venom on my S2 has white painted vertical lines on the rear so you can use that as a way to dial in your windage. It's slower, but it works well. I just sight it so the FSP is centered in the white lines and it is just peeking out above the top of the Venom case. Quite accurate with slow fire at closer distances.

Dove tail mounted plate is generally not preferred , but you don't need to do much this way. Or milling the slide: either have RDS directly on the slide or on top of a plate. Lots of work. Best to get a brand new S2 OR I think.

Although, OP didn't clarify the use. If for competition, shall use 8moa (C-MORE RTS2 for example). For which he'll need a mount plate. Good luck with finding one...

I compete with mine - 2.5 MOA Trijicon SRO. Couldn't be happier. I had a 6.5 MOA RMR before this and found that at distance, the dot covered the target I was aiming at. For that reason, I went to the 2.5 and now at distance, all is well. If I want a larger dot on the 2.5, I find that if I turn up the brightness, the dot "appears" larger.

Holy cow!

Price of Shadow 2 OR went up $400 this weekend!

Intended use is for IPSC Prod Optics Division.
wow....

Black Friday is just in time! Maybe they'll shave a couple hundred off. :)

A quick google showed Fishing World dot ca has one for $1599. Don't know a thing about them so do your own research. This really sucks. You can always mill your Shadow though. I did that with mine. I also bought a Shadow 2 OR for IPSC and I really love it. It works better for me than the Shadow, and it isn't anything to do with the milling. Whatever magic CZ did to the S2 has made it be more tunable for me with followup shots, etc. I didn't think that would be the case for me so I resisted buying one until this summer.

Good point. Parts availability is something to be aware of. My gunsmith makes his own mounting plates, so there are people out there than can make what cannot be bought right now.
