I’m reaching out here because this search is proving to be more difficult than I thought. I’m trying to source a safety button for my tang safety M77. If anyone knows anywhere that would have one for sale, please let me know. I’d love to see this rifle complete again.

Numrich Gun Parts in the USA has them in stock, they also have a schematic diagram of the parts, to determine the proper part number... prepare yourself for astronomical shipping though....

Interesting, I see I am not the only one searching for this elusive part. Numrich is out of stock at the moment. Looking at the schematics on the Brownells site, it says this part is discontinued, so it may be very difficult to obtain.

They’re out of stock on numrich unfortunately. That was the first place I tried.

There are aftermarket makers of the tang safety button. I have bought them from Jack's First in the past, but I just checked and they are out of stock, but since they still manufacture them it would be worth a phone call. The part is very well machined and fit perfectly in a couple rifles that I used them in.

Don't bother calling Snapshots, the M77 Tang Safety rifles are a 30+ year-old iteration and Ruger no longer makes the safety buttons.

There's a real nice 270 on EE. Perhaps too good for parts? You could buy it, keep the parts you like/need and sell the rest on EE as parts. Lots of parts hounds on CGN, most would sell very quickly, especially the bolt, stock and barrel.

Very curious what causes the safetyu to break/go missing. Seems theres a few of you that have needed this part?

The stock is what holds the safety catch in place... many times people disassemble the rifle for servicing or shipping and the retention pin slips and the safety button gets lost... 99/100 this is what occurs.

A piece of drill rod and an hour with file and hacksaw. This isn't that complicated.
Years ago, we customized them by filing the ridge off and checkering the smoothed dome.

For anyone who is still interested, I got an email yesterday from Jack First Gun Parts. They have them in stock again. They are $40 US. Use the email below to get more info. Or go here: ht tps://jackfirstinc.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1532 to order.
