It looks like Kodiak Defense may be entering the PCC market! I saw a video YouTube (link above) and thought I'd start a thread. I'm sure there will be details to follow but looks like the video was just released recently. Appears to feed from glock mags from what I can tell and have AR-pattern furniture and controls. I wonder if they will make NR and R versions. This could be a domestic competitor to the FX-9.

My feelings are ambivalent, as a Wk-180c owner I've had consistent issues with my rifle but I have also received what I would consider excellent warranty service compared to other manufacturers. I'm hoping this project is successful for them and they can release a reliable, product with consistent QC. However due to my experiences with my WK I will not be buying in early (I need to save for a Sterling R18 anyways :d)

Let's hear others thoughts below!

Thanks for passing this along. Interesting. Definitely reminds me of the FX9. Charging handle and bolt release seem similar as well as apparent two-pin takedown.

Agree about not buying it early. I have had a relatively problem free WK and also have an FX9 which I love, love, love. Would be curious about the pricing for the K9, though.

The instagram page said they were likely to retail for 1250 for a non restricted version.

Where can I pre pre order it??????

I don't think we can. I checked the Kodiak Defence site and there's no mention of it. Guess the video is the teaser and then hopefully it will show up on the site soon. I know BCL had a promo on the Bison and then shortly after it was available for sale but that promo was more for a prototype at the time. In this case, clearly the K9 exists beyond prototype level.

If it is fashioned after the FX9 and is direct blowback, it may be fairly decent out of the box being a simple design. It looks like already the charging handle is close to the one one of our members has manufactured instead of the rinky dink small FX9 one.

Assuming the sights come with it, hopefully.

Which mags? Glock only?

That's not clear at this time, the only news of this firearm from the manufacturer thus far is this video from what I know, if anybody has seen something on Kodiak's facebook or other social media feel free to post it.

I would hazard a guess that with this type of firearm it will be designed to take glock mags. That is a sort of unofficial industry standard nowadays for a PCC. Some guns such as the kel-tec Sub 2000 offer a multi-mag version, but it has a much different receiver/frame design that is suited to that kind of purpose.

I would tend to agree. All my PCCs take Glock mags and the ones that I don't have also would accept them. As you say it is the defacto standard, spoken or not. Even with my Ruger PC Carbine, it came with a Ruger S9/SR9 magwell and magazine, but wise minds decided to stick in a Glock magwell (no magazine) in recognizing that many people would want that interchangeability with their Glocks. I will be VERY surprised if Kodiak didn't have Glock magazine compatibility.

im am def interested but id need to see why its better/different from my Ruger and JR - PCC's

not taking Glock mags would take it completely off the table for me. I have a duffle bag of glock mags :)
And it needs to be NR

So...I went to Armalytics and punched in K9 by KD...

There is an entry in there, but it's for a restricted...I didn't see a NR on the list.

In looking at the descriptor...this is the part that worries me...

"K9" has the general outline of a AR-15 rifle type.

Now, given the fact the government is on a witchhunt to ban anything that resembles an AR15, surely this cannot be helpful to the marketing...

This thing look a hell of a lot like the FX9. I would certainly consider getting one to compliment my FX9, I just wouldn't rushing out to get one. Regarless, the more firearms being manufactured in Canada the better. If they could have this right at a grand it would help get a lot more of them out there. I'm sure it will be Glock mags, they are basically the STANAG mags of the PCC world.
I'll stay tuned.

Obviously as a consumer the cheaper the better but a lot of the taticool PCC's ive seen are about $1,200. If it was priced there, I'd def give a real close look.
But if its over $1,500 they'd really need to explain why its worth it. It will be a hard sell.

As per their instagram "Working on NR price range 1150 to 1250."

I paid about $1100 for my 9mm 10" PSA AR from IRG about 4 years ago so $1150-$1250 would be in the ballpark re pricing. Until it was banned to my basement it was probably my favourite gun. Short, light, plenty accurate up to 50 yards with an Eotech and the Timney 3 1/2 pound trigger I put in it made it a joy to shoot. If this gun was even close to it then it would be worth the $$$.
