Greetings all! I’m having one heckuva time finding information on the Kodiak Shorty disassembly procedure. I can get it field stripped but I am unsure how to get the magazine spring retainer out of the end of the magazine tube. It’s plastic and I don’t want to put too much force on it. I cannot find instructions or a manual anywhere. Any help would be great! Cheers

And you said it's a plastic retainer eh? Might be friction fit, typically friction are steel, and have a couple holes to collapse with a snap ring plier..

Yeah, it’s plastic and not a friction fit… I can push it freely down the tube against the spring as well but it stops flush with the end…

Ok, I’ll try that tomorrow. Not sure how I’ll rotate it as there is just a hole in the cap and not a slot for a screwdriver or anything. I don’t see any other dimples in the tube so I’m not sure how pushing it in all the way and rotating it will free it up at the end. But I am ignorant on the disassembly of this one and can’t find any info on the googler which is surprising.

I know the type you are talking about…. This one has a hole in the end, it’s plastic and I can push it freely down the mag tube but it stops somehow at the end of the tube….

ApoC is likely right but if the plastic is a bit flexible you might be able to 'squish' it out. Maybe rotate 90* to the tube and try to pull it thru ? My Hatsan had barely discernable crimp that I was able to overcome with a bit of effort.
Is there a lot of dirt inside? or you just wanna get in?

I just want to be able to fully disassemble and clean. The mag tubes get dirty and I like to clean and lightly oil them which adds to the overall smoothness of its operation.

####ers, that's a cheap trick and lazy on their behalf.

I would find a friction-fit retainer then make a die to undo the crimp (easy job for machinist/smith)

Or…. Grind off the lip and put a retainer in…. Or no retainer at all… the cap pressure fits against the barrel ring anyway.
