Shipping powder

WTF.

So last week I saw Cabala's had H4350 listed on their site. I haven't seen it available anywhere for the longest time so ordered a couple pounds.
Got an email today from the service team, shipping will be $258!!!!
I don't want to cancel this order because I have been looking for this powder for a while with no luck.
Guess I'm going to have to make the 4 hr drive to Calgary and pick it up.

They said they have to ship via Day & Ross, that's who Amazon uses for their free prime delivery to my area.
Too bad Amazon doesn't sell powder

its a dangerous good . all the rules/regs shipping companies need to adhere to they need to pass the cost on to someone. its not just the single fact of shipping it in a box, same rules would apply to amazon.
states it right on the website.
"Shipping Restriction - this item is a dangerous good and must be shipped via ground transportation only. An additional shipping charge may apply."

now maybe they are getting ripped off on the shipping qoutes, but at least they are informing customers before shipping it out.
 
That doesn't add up Jetman. Other companies charge me like 30-50 bucks for shipping a dozen lbs or so of powder via UPS. It arrives marked correctly as a dangerous good, identified as nitrocellulose/nitroglycerin based propellant .
Must be the remote location.

I'm well aware of dangerous goods shipping, and if it was a reasonable amount wouldn't have posted a rant thread.

With Canpar out of the ammo/powder shipping business we don't have a lot of options anymore. For some reason UPS doesn't come here.

Local Canadian tire store used to have a fair supply of ammo, and just before the shortages had started to sell reloading components.
Now they have a few boxes of Aguila .22 and some 12ga rounds the rest of the cabinet is empty. I think there is still 3 or 4 lb's of tightgroup. I bought the last 2 lb's of 4064 a few months ago.
So online or a hit or miss trip to the city is our only real option these days.

I had a quote here in Ontario , for a shipment of 2lbs of powder it was just over $40 .
 
just baught 13 lbs from a site sponsor.shipped from ontario to NB.cost 75$ for shipping.split 3 ways so it worked out well.the more you buy the more you save hahaha
 
Alot of reloading companies cannot ship their goods these days. It makes sense that any form of disarming starts with cutting off supply chains.
 
I know this thread is a few month old.
Question, can i have Blackhorn 209 powder shipped from a friend from Vancouver to Winnipeg via UPS? If so, what's the process.
