Bergara vs Tikka

When at the range I like to load single shots and find yhe Tikka a pain because it will only feed from the clip. Just my opinion

This was an issue with the T3's but has since been addressed with a larger ejection port in the newer T3X series. Tikka did a great job of listening to customer feedback about perceived shortfalls in the T3 line, and changed a bunch of minor things in the newer iteration. Stainless recoil lug, better plastic stock (noise reduction added and has some mod options), aluminum bolt shroud, much better recoil pad. I'm still shooting a T3 Laminated Stainless and have had zero issues in almost 10 years of use, though I did add a Limbsaver recoil pad.

One action length, floating recoil lug, multi piece bolt, cheap plastic stock, cheap plastic mags that cost way too much.
You know what other gun has all those cool features...a $400 Savage Axis.

Don’t forget, roughly equal accuracy, if slightly worse fit and finish than a tikka.

Not sure how a bigger port is going to help a t3 feed better. My t3 feeds 6.5x55 fine through the port. Not so my tikka 223. I really don't know why they changed the port. I have not used the t3x so If there is an advantage I don't know what it is. You can't load the magazine when it's in the rifle with either port configuration. It seems like they were reacting to criticisms from people who didn't own or were familiar with a t3 and weren't likely to buy one in any case.

I’ve said before that the T3 is essentially an Axis with Sako barrel and trigger.

That's a big difference right there. The tikka also has a good stock, no comparison between it and an sps stock I don't know about an axis stock but I doubt it's very stiff or well finished

The Tikka website indicated that they had received lots of complaints about loading single shots into the ejector port on the T3, so the made the port slightly larger on the T3X. It's certainly a complaint I heard many times here and elsewhere about the T3, but can't remember if some calibers were more specifically called out or not.

The rifle is designed to feed from the magazine. single loading sets the round on top of the lips. Yes if you stick your finger in, if it is small enough you can get a round in the chamber but not easily.

I just compared my tikka to my 6 lug weatherby. Both feed fine through the port. The tikka feeds 6.5 creed 6.5x 55 and 308. You can put the bullet started into the chamber much easier with the weatherby although i dont know why you would do that. You put the cartridge in the port and close the bolt on both rifles. Please someone with both a t3 and a t3x tell me if they single load them any different or the bigger port solves any problems.

I had trouble single loading 223 into tikka. Chamber opening was too small and cartridge was too low resting on top of a magazine. I could load but it took too much fine movement to be enjoyable.

I have one of the original T-3s in 270 WSM and single load them stubby fat 'lil cartridges through the port without any issues other than no doubt its tight.
