Howdy!
I was wondering what type of gloves you guys wear while trying to catch a few upland birds from october to winter times? Holding onto a steel shotgun's receiver during cold times does test out your gloves.

I've been doing a few searches and there are certainly a few very nice (expensive) options available: Outdoor Research Silencer gloves, Orvis Cold Weather Hunting gloves or Pro LT Hunting gloves,...

What do you guys use?

It has to be pretty cold before I transition to something warmer than the golf gloves I usually wear. But I’m from Winterpeg.

I wear Mechanix gloves. You can get them at canadian tire.

I usually have some wort of similar glove to the mechanix. Just stay away from any with the extra shock adsorbing padding on the palms, it makes it more awkward to hold onto the gun.

I have about 8 pair of Mechanix gloves in different configurations.

they are good to about -3

if you want warm don't use the leather or reinforced knuckle.
The cheapest ones are the warmest :)

I have worn Watson deer hide Ropers for about 40 years now, either lined or un lined, and find them fantastic.
When it get really cold II use mitts with the roper inside them.

Up until deer season (nov 01) when it’s just above 0c I wear the fingerless bicycle gloves. Comfortable and they don’t hinder your movement when it’s time to hustle ..,

Every year around this time Home Depot has a "special buy" sale on winter work gloves with a thin layer of Thinsulate in them. They're like lined black mechanics gloves. They don't have the velcro strap so they slide on and off easily which I like, however they allow enough dexterity to operate a safety and trigger with them on anyways

Mechanix used to have a glove that worked great for me; tight on my hand, but not uncomfortable. I'd use them all year, during deer season when it was really cold I'd wear a mitt that I could drop and the gloves inside. Sadly they seem to have discontinued it for the crap they have now.

Same here! They allow great dexterity and adequate protection from brush as well as the cold.

Also helpful when pulling cactus from the dog.

Seem to last quite a while also
