Just got a beauty Israeli k98. Mausers are not may strong point. What factory and other info can you tell me about the piece. No stock disk, solid wood stock with cupped but plate. Hope to post pics later

It's made at BRNO at the end of the Nazi regime. The receiver would have been assembled by the czechs post-war and sold to Israel.

The first of 1945 the Germans changed the manufacturing codes from "dot" to "swp45". Which is Brunn Czechoslovakia.

I just received a Mauser marked "Mod 98" over "swp45" but in 8mm.
I looked in the Collector Grade book on K98's 1934 to 1945 and managed to get most of the correct parts for the job, but need a cupped butt plate without a hole to disassemble the bolt.
I like the Mausers and have just received two of the FN manufactured in 7.62's for Israeli.
I am looking for a Portuguese K98 in 7.62 to go with my Israeli collection.

Idf K98

I have always been interested in the IDF weaponry especially the early years. Doubly so that the Israelis use so much WW2 germany technology. Czech built Me109, French built 75mm L70 (Panther) mounted on M50 shermans. The M50 shermans and some JS3 installed along borders as Stahlturm type bunkers. Mg34 and the K98 used extensively in '48, '56 and to a limited amount in '67. Offensive tactics use in '56 and '67 were in perfect blizkrieg style. For those whom are sensitive this is NOT a political/Idealogical post. Happy new year.
