PAL Wait Time

This timeline for a brand new PAL seems wrong, way too fast for a brand new PAL.

sounds like the timeline for a renewal.

Was arrested 10 years ago.. but charges were dropped shortly after… so as of today i have no criminal record… however when i have applied for a job 3 years ago the employer did a background check.. the local police found a trace of that 7 years old arrest….i Called the local police, they said that in many cases, even if the charges were dropped that you are not guilty.. the event can stay in their database for many years.. the cop explained that it can stay in the database 5-10 or forever it depends what type of possible crime.
In my case they said that it is usually a 10 years note. The cop told me that it may disappear from the local police database really soon though because it's been 7 years already. The cop said Not to worry about it and check again in 3 years or so.

Knowing that, Everytime i cross the border (to go to the state, im kinda nervous). But never had issue with border agents either.
Its been 10 years in 2020… so for 10 years straight i did not apply for my pal…. No incident in the last 10 years..
Before applying for the PAL and also because my new job is asking for a background too..ii went to the local police office last summer, handed over all my ids and asked for a background check…. They said i was clean.

So i went ahead and applied for a PAL Here in QC

2021 October 04 application received
2021 October 18 credit card charged
2021 November early in the month. initial process completed if additional info is need will be contacted
2021 november 19 called cfo to get an update,,, i presume they did a live background check while i was on the phone. Because i could hear them on the phone …they were looking up for stuff on their computer..

2021 November 19 application completed, your license has been issued, wait 2 weeks if not call back.

Im so happy.

Still in the mail but im starting to shop already… no more silly bb airguns… now i can use the real thing….
Ill probably want the RPAL later, but for now the PAL is what i wanted most.

Ill update this post when i receive the card.

Received the card in the mail box on 1st dec….

RPAL Course/Test completed October 19th

Do not fax in test results until your application shows online. At that time it will be assigned an application number that you can see. You have to write your application number on the top of the test results. This is how they marry them to to correct application.

Ahhh okay, thank you for that info! I guess I will just keep checking daily online then.

Alberta RPAL application here.

Arrived 10/22
Application available 11/22

What concerns me is that the notice about delays due to incorrect information used to say 45 days was typical turnaround time. A few days later they removed the 45 day part, and now they have this on the covid page:

New firearms licences
Our processing site is currently operating at a reduced capacity, which has resulted in a four-month delay in the processing of new applications for a firearms licence.

It sounds like from the other timelines things have sped up a fair bit in Ontario, fingers crossed the same will be true of me.

Same date Cc charge let me know if you get yours

Application has been physically delivered to the P.O Box today. How long should I expect to wait for it to be visible online (I also paid with certified cheque)?

(Am ON Applicant if that helps)

Mine took 30 days, so expect 28-30 days for checking the status online and another 45 days for approval. It might take longer since many more applications are going to the processing site. That's what they told me when I called them Monday.

Application Received by CFP: Feb 10/ 2020
Course Completed: March 20
Course results received and sent in May 03
CC Charged and more info sent: May 31st
Application Completed Initial processing now w/ Ontario CFO: June 10th

I have been waiting for these fools for so long its ridiculous. Calling doesnt do anything, they just say the same line "it just just been picked up by an agent and will take a few weeks" since June. Anyone got any advice?? Fiancee wanted to buy me range time and a cheapo plinker for xmas and seems now I am going to have to wait for the Q1-2 2022 before that will become reality :/

BC applicant
CFSC/CRFSC completed July 11
Application submitted July 18
Application received July 20
CC charged July 28 status: We have completed the initial review of your firearms licence application. If additional information is required, you will be contacted. Please check the status again at a later date.
Date modified on application status page (not sure if this is accurate): Sept 15

Anyone have any thoughts? Is BC moving slower than other provinces?
Appears like that
New rpal in bc,
Application sent in end of July,
just checked today still says:: We have completed the initial review of your firearms licence application. If additional information is required, you will be contacted. Please check the status again at a later date.
135 days now

Could it be rpal is taking longer for some reason? It seems most posts here through on/bc that are just unrestricted have gone pretty fast.

Should we call them?? Does that help or hinder?? It’s my sons RPAL application, he is 22, living at home with us, no record of any type, no astranged significant others, wife and I are still together, and never had any issues with my rpal.

Dec 15, "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number (1-800-731-4000)."

Post my timeline here:

Application sent Oct 6

Application received Oct 13 (longer than expected due to holidays)

CC charged Nov 8 and 'We have completed the initial review....'

will wait until 45 days before making the first call

Uh, that's odd. I just tried to log in to view my application today and it appears as if it's been taken offline? Has anyone else ever had something like this? I definitely checked to make sure my information was correct several times, but I'm getting a "We do not have any information that matches this data. If this data is correct please check your application status again at a later date."; and refreshing an old page I had open with the application reports that "there's no applications to be found" instead of prompting me to log in again. It's strange because it worked fine earlier this morning. Maybe I logged in just as it's getting changed to approved? Hopefully?

Anyone ever have anything like this?

EDIT: Nevermind; seems to be back now. Weird.

I sent mine application in mid-late Nov. hasn’t shown up in any manner. I called they told me they were still processing the start of November.
