26 Nosler or 6.5x300 Weatherby.

I'm a little late to the party but I just bought a 26 Nosler myself. Mostly because all of my hunting rifles are vanilla 308, 7-08, 6.5 CM
Throw in a barrel burner for fun.
A barrel is a wear part. It you torch the throat / wear out the barrel, just screw on another.

The 26 Nosler will be fun to tinker with and I have found the brass and ammo to be cheaper than the 6.5-300. That is really the only reason I went with one over the other.

Finding 6.5 bullets right now is another story.

I am going to buy one of the new Weatherby Mark V Hunter rifles in 6.5RPM, play with that for a while and see if it is all that and a bag of chips. Going to be hard though, I am really enjoying the 280AI I built last year!

I had a couple 6.5 RPMs built and Im back to the 6.5 PRC, great cartridge just a little finicky on the hand loading for my likes and not enough gains in performance over the 6.5 PRC imho,

I find the 6.5 PRC such a pleasure to shoot and load for, I had built a 28 Nosler and it was an awesome rifle/cartridge but Im back to the 280AI (my fav hunting cartridge) and as bartell pointed out with the evolution of amazing turret scopes its just a cpl more clicks and your there.

But either the 6.5-300 Wby or 26 Nosler will get the job done hunting no question.

Awesome info, thanks! I really enjoy my 280AI as well, my favourite by far!

Nice. The 6.5 PRC is so popular getting brass and bullets was difficult this past year.

I have not had the inclination as of yet to go down the PRC trail, but that is always a future possibility... the cabin fever months are where I tend to conjur up the majority of my dumb-azz firearm builds...

Wondering how well it would work as a .30-06 RPM, or even a .35 Whelen RPM. I haven't compared too much, but looks like some minor work to get the cases to feed properly and a reamer to clean up the existing chamber could be the way.
