IDPA holster suggestions

Yes and no. A stock Shadow 2 is not legal in IDPA's SSP or ESP divisions. However, with a few allowable modifications and putting on a red dot, you can make weight to run it in Carry Optics with the weight limit of 45 oz.

Looks like if you run a Shadow 2 which is +1 oz and added a Vortex Venom for example which is only 1.1 oz , you’d only need to shave .1 oz to meet the CO limit of 45 oz.

Just weighed my Shadow 2 with factory plate and Venom, with Lok standard sized bogie grips: 46.6oz with the factory mag. Using the 3/4 metal factory mag from the SP-01 Shadow drops it down to 46.1 oz.

A long way to go there eh Sensei ? Apparently your wallet will be the lightest thing once legal weight is achieved ! Unless you already own a milling machine.

Yup! Lol! If I hired you to machine the slide to lose weight, it wouldn’t be legal for IPSC anymore. I’ll just have to visit you guys next season with my old Shadow.

Yes the only fighting chance you have to make a Shadow 2 legal weight is if it is a Gen 1 . Not gonna happen if it is a Gen 2 . Now then as jimbo14 eludes , an “ old Shadow “ ( Shadow 1 ) will do the trick , so no-one in their right mind should take a new one ( Shadow 2 ) and subject it to $$$$$$ worth of mods to make it IDPA legal while ruining it’s ability to qualify for IPSC which is what it was made for in the 1st place. The Shadow is already not really a handgun of choice in the IDPA game owing to the different philosophies of that discipline compared to IPSC where the CZ Shadow rules. The “ Spirit “ of IDPA is rooted in the American ability to concealed carry . The “ plastic fantastic “ striker fired semi-autos didn’t gain prevalence in IDPA ( or with concealed carry and LEOs worldwide ) because of all the enviable competition ready attributes of the full metal , low bore axis , light dynamic weight but heavy overall weight target pistols like the CZ Shadow. Which is to say that not a lot of peeps daily carry a Shadow …. based on weight alone.

But ya jimbo14 , you get out here next season and bring that trusty old Shadow with you. You”ll be pleasantly surprised by how much stiffer the competition is getting from us polymer players .

I thought this was a thread about holsters... anyhow, if any of you are wondering about the Shadow 2 and how to make a Shadow 2 legal in IDPA, there are other threads about that.

There are roughly twice as many Glocks in national competition as there are CZ.

Where did you get these stats? Can you post the link?

I only place where I see those kinds of numbers are in the respective sport publications, 'USPSA' (in the case of USPSA) and 'Tactical Journal' (in the case of IDPA).

Usually, a few months after their respective nationals, they post a breakdown of the guns and gear most used by their nationals competitors.

Yeah, it is usually posted annually in an issue of the Tactical Journal.
