so my gun's back from it's trip south. S&W replaced all the interior bits, including the rails and such. but it's still the same plastic frame. Also a new slide, and barrel and parts. The new rear sight sits significantly lower than the old one (which they sent along too), so maybe it'll actually shoot POA instead of 4 inches high at 25.
For those that don't know I had a factory Fiochii round explode in it (part of the ammo recall lot). the round toasted the extractor and dumped the mag out. It also bent the trigger bar and some other internal bits.
I look forward to shooting this thing on Saturday night. now I need to source more mags!

Beretta's are gone. I was paid back for my broken frames. hence the reason I shoot the Tanfanglio now. Once I've played more with the M&P I may go to it though, we'll see. As well Beretta has a new Elite III coming out next year, so we'll see what happens there.

Good to hear you got it back.

Any other news on this Fiochii recall? It's all that Chilliwack dart and tackle is selling right now for 9mm, and I got a bunch of it at home. Can I identify it to confirm it's not part of that bad batch?

CanAm has it right. but no matter what, I'll never use Fiocchi again. It's always been dodgy ammo in my opinion.

Exactly how many guns did you blow up??? Somebody had to be looking out for you! Glad it was only the guns that took the hit and not you!

Thanks for the link CanAm

Funny you say that - I had never used it until this last monday, it's all they had and for some reason I didn't really trust it. Maybe because you don't see it all that much.

The boxes I have aren't the 45###x lot numbers, but they're gettin tossed anyway. I can't risk what you went through. You were lucky you didn't get seriously hurt

Fiocchi knows which ammo is the problem, if it's not on that list don't worry.

How did you initiate the repair? Was it through MD Charlton, or direct to S&W? What paperwork/permits were needed?

it was through MD Charlton, they were great. Murray is so easy to deal with and he does a great job of keeping you up to date on stuff. I wish more service centers were like that.

I never heard about that one, could you tell us what happened to it?
Which model of Beretta?
Thanks Marshall

Hey Slavex,

I found the S&W to be a little jumpy in my hands but I haven't shot more than about 100 rounds through them so I was only getting a bit of a feel for it. You know how wimpy and delicate that I am.

Let us know how it turns out with a full range report. I want to hear what you think of the recoil and how to tame it i.e. which load it likes!

I shot an M&P in .40 S&W at the IDPA Nationals using Cor-Bon ammo, which I found toasty, and I found the gun to be quite comfortable, not snappy at all.

I really think that you would truly like it.

My experience with the M&P 9 was that it loved NATO spec stuff (vintage 1970's Canadian) and stuff with heavier bullets (124 and 147) it wasn't too keen on standard velocity 115 for some reason. They fed and fired fine, they just weren't as accurate. My next handgun will be an M&P45.

gun shoots great went through about 300 rounds tonight, mostly other people shooting it though. still shoots high for me, and I benched it again just to see if it was me. The trigger needs work, again, as it's all new bits and you can feel the roughness in it. maybe a few thousand rounds and it'll be good.
it is a bit snappy, but no more than a Glock, and waaaay more comfortable.
As for the Beretta Elite III, we are still waiting on more info on it. Typical of Beretta though, it'll probably be on the shelves and selling before any advertising is done for it, or they tell BerettaForum members.
