Hey Folks,
I’ll soon have my Spectre lower and need to decide on an upper.
Since Spectre hasn’t said much on the release of their upper, I’m gonna move to different option.

So my options are ,TNA enhanced upper or I can buy a wk 180 and swap the lower,

My questions are ,what’s the main differences between the WK upper and the TNA enhanced upper?
Can I upgrade the WK upper to be comparable to the TNA enhanced upper?
Is there anything I’m missing?

The TNA enhanced costs not much less than a used WK 180,so is the TNA upper really that good?

Thanks

The TNA enhanced upper includes a built in shell deflector, chrome plated bolt control group, brass piston bushing where the piston enters the receiver (default is plastic on WK), ejection port cover, and, likely most helpful of all, a charging handle that has screws in, but also has an indexing dowel that fits into a matching well on the BCG to both prevent the handle from flexing/breaking away on the screw portion, and prevent the handle from unscrewing. I think all these upgrades make a WK with TNA Enhanced Upper up to the level of the MCR and then some, as it addresses most of the known issues with the platform.

I don't think they have it listed on the site, so you may have to call them about it, but it may be a good idea to get an adjustable gas block from TNA. The WK is known to be over-gassed to allow ejection of poor ammunition, but this can knock loose the fasteners on the WK's default gas block, knock the piston rod out of alignment, and eventually cause it to snap from the twisting pressures. You can use the adjustable block to dial back the gas to the minimum you need for your preferred ammo to increase the longevity of the firearm's parts. Regardless of using either the default gas block or adjustable gas block, you should use thread locker on the fasteners to prevent it from moving over time.

If you do get a default WK upper, I would see if you could get the original non-screw in charging handle and BCG for it; this can scrape the charging handle track on the WK, but it won't break off or unscrew like the default handle can. Kodiak makes them for their steel upper; the steel upper would also be another durable option, though it would add some weight to the unit.

Good luck with your build! Please post pics of your Canadian Frankenstein WK when you're done :p

I’m gonna scrap the wk idea and go with the TNA upper or wait for the Spectre upper. ( if they ever release it).
Any idea of difference between these two?

Much about the SBI Lynx Upper remains unknown. It will have swappable side panels, but no port covers. You can choose between aluminum and steel panels, and left or right side charging handles tracks with right ejection only. A direct Impingement driven BCG is to follow that, while it supposedly will work in WK and MCR receivers, will work best with the Lynx upper. Allo other info is yet to be announced.
