Cub Survival
Grizzly bear cubs have a very high survival rate. There is no better mother in nature than a mama grizzly! And if you don't think so, just try messing with one of those cubs!!! This picture was taken by forest service workers about to start work for the day, near Vernon, BC. They quickly decided it would be a better idea to just go back home.
Grizzly bear hunting in BC is on a small draw basis. Only adult bears, completely by themselves, are legal to hunt, meaning a bear family, or any grizzly accompanied by another grizzly, are protected.
Grizzly cubs stay with their mother for at least two years. Thus, this group will be together all of next year, and sometimes they stay together for the third year.
