Yugo M48

Tire. 50 yards on a mild but windy day. My first time with 8mm Mauser which certainly cleared up the sinuses. 
I picked up one years ago from a coworker who was paring down his collection. I M48 BO in decent condition with dark wood, cost me a case of Stella Artois. Love to drag it our every now and again but usually shot reduced loads just for fun.
M48's in the various stampings are good old rifles. I have a beater that I take out every once in a while and fire some 8x57 Yugo surplus through. Packs a good wallop. I have some nice ones as well.

Yugo 24/47 was probably the only rifle I ever regret selling. It has some really nice Elm wood, was accurate even though I hate Mauser sights, and the bolt was sloppy and gritty, but when I dialed in a load it liked and took my time, it shot really really well.

I kept mine and I'm glad I did. I bought it from Marstar in 2003, and it's the last milsurp I'll sell. In excellent condition in cosmolene and cost $200.
A good shooter, and the stock both looks good and feels good in my hands.
Much the same can be said of the M48.
Same here, my M24/47 has a minty barrel, and shoots quite well, it also came with free Cosmoline!
Between all the Mauser system rifles that I ever tried the Yugo M48 was my least favourite one. I am sure that with the similar amount of attention to details that is basically required to make Russian Mosin acceptable, any M48 would be ok though.
My complaint about the m48 is that tiny v notch rear sight making the front sight disappear if the background is dark. They heavy trigger pull along with a curvy trigger blade that bits into the finger didn't help either. Otherwise it's a fine rifle. I shoot reduced load out of mine and it's a fun rifle to shoot without costing lots of money
Yes, the sights were far from perfect, but the biggest sin was the action. It was just rough and gritty. Not something I expected from a Mauser system rifle in which I typically don’t have to fight the action to make it work. I would need to spend a lot of time polishing it to be happy. I liked the elm wood stock though.
My front sight hood and cleaning rod were finally released from the customs detention centre, 14 days in solitary confinement.
I know the sights are terrible on this rifle, but I find the trigger really nice and the action doesn't feel all that bad, definitely not gritty.
Now I am waiting for a day that is sunny but with the ground frozen so I can get one more fix before spring.
