Building a New Gun - Longthorne Gunmakers

I watched this last night, a great video and very, very instructive. Apparently you can place Longthorne barrels in between two blocks and stand on them in the center and they won't bend.

In the presentation the gunfitter/owner of the company says they start with a 26 Kg blank of steel (for the barrels) and when finished there is just over a kilo left of the finished barrel (before going into the black).
Pretty impressive Gun Clubs those boys shoot at...

Great video and I sure like the wood he chose. I don't like side plates on a sporting gun though, unless they can be removed easily so the action can be accessed for cleaning and drying out if you get caught in the rain. But then again it never rains in jolly old England!

"What we're looking for is someone who can mount the gun properly...." subtle English humor! :)

At the English version of the SHOT show, they actually park a Landrover on 4 of their barrels sitting on Cinder blocks to show the strength of them. Their pricing is inline with Krieghoff, the lead time however isn't.

I was surprised with how competitive in price their base model Sporter is.
