New shotguns, MAG-FED and SHORTIES - NEW PICS

Pics

Pics as promised are here. My camera is pretty crappy, so it won't do anything up close unfortunately. I tried to capture as much detail as possible with these.

Forend (you can see the choke in the barrel pretty well):

Overall length is 30-32":

Up front you can see the bead sight and the sling swivel (behind the mag cap):

Another view. I couldn't get close enough for detail of the finish:

Some more (btw, the black thing it is resting on is the pistol grip stock that comes with the gun):

Here's the underside, you can see the follower:

This is basically my first gun (though it's a gift, so not even), so as far as a review goes, I don't really have anything to compare it to. I can say that it feels pretty solid and is very black :D. It's heavier than I imagined, and I found the weight is well balanced when held in both hands. I worked the action a few times and it's pretty smooth.

The gun comes generously oiled (in fact, I had to wipe a bunch off the stock and receiver when I opened it). The finish is completely matte black (if you see any shiny areas or discolorations it's probably a spot of oil), and did have a few fine scratches on the receiver/barrel.

The only other thing I noticed was that there is a little bit of play when you wiggle the forend from side to side. I'm not sure if this is normal...it doesn't feel sloppy or anything, it just gives a little if you do a "twisting" motion when you're holding it.

Anyways, she's nestled nicely under the tree now. I need to get out and do some more shopping today...I'll be back tonight and will do my best to answer any questions people might have.

Huge thanks to CanAm for getting it out so quick, just signed for it a few minutes ago, and have linked to pics everyone is waiting on. If you want something more specific, I'll post later tonight.

First impressions (less than 5 minutes with it, so sorry if it's not in depth):

-All metal trigger group is nice
-Yellow follower is nice
-Well greased, needs a good cleaning, but that's half the fun of a new gun
-No "made in China" marks I've found
-Some machining marks on the barrel (for the price, expected)
-Some play in forearm, but I don't have all that much experience with pumps other than a 20g Wingmaster, so someone else will need to comment on that.
-Where the stock and action meet, there is a bit of a sharp lip, as the synthetic stock overhangs a bit. Moot point for me, I'm putting a Knoxx on it when I've opened it Christmas day, and look forward to spending the holiday in the country where I can give it a proper workout.
- Bead seems secure, and bore is smooth

Thanks again CanAm for everything, it's going to be a great Christmas! :D

I just did a full strip of the gun (trigger assy stayed intact), and it went well. The only part I'm not sure about is the magazine spring retainer, which appears to be plastic. I don't want to pry it out, but given the way the rest of the gun is greased, I'd like to clean the tube as well. Any tips?

Nevermind, figured it out.

PC9: Barrel is only stamped "12 GA 2 3/4 3"

What is marked on the barel?Does it have the make and length stamped on the barel?

The barrel is marked as rotncore described above. The make is stamped on both sides of the receiver, "Dominion Arms 870 Grizzly". I don't remember seeing any other markings (it's wrapped up now so I can't double-check).

How else are the authorities to determine if it has been shortened?
I suppose you will really need to carry your reggie!

Never thought about that. What's the big deal about cut barrel in Canada? I know your can't go under 18" in US.

Dlask makes a living out of it, right?
