Has anyone used 0.177 BB's made out of lead?

They are called BB guns because they shoot size BB shot.

Why not use a pellet gun instead of a bb gun? Pellets will be more accurate so lot easier to hit the sparrows.
At that link to CSS the product specifically says "Do not use in bb guns". I checked on Pyramid air (USA vendor) and found Gamo .177 lead balls, with reviews of that product. http s://www.pyramydair.com/product-all-reviews/p/gamo-177-cal-8-2-grains-round-lead-balls-250ct/78
My suggestion - get a slingshot. I use Dollar store marbles in mine, knock the H out of pigeons! I cleaned out Halifax $-stores a couple years ago, got about 1500.

If your projectile is just gonna roll down the barrel you have some issue's lol
H&N smartshot is designed to be used in BB guns.
It is copper washed lead and heavier then steel bbs
It is more accurate and can be fired into steel pellet traps as they flatten out instead of bouncing.
I really like Smartshot but it is more expensive

Shotshell BB is nominally .18" last I looked.
I agree but maybe hes just utilizing what he has on hand. The pellet gun is a far superior choice both in the power capability and the accuracy which may be a good point to consider for the OP

My Gamo pistol is a single pump pneumatic type specifically made for the Gamo 0.177" 8.2 grains lead round ball BB's, which feed through a spring loaded tubular magazine. A nice combination for shooting at a steel pellet trap. No ricochets. I have also used it for shooting a few sparrows and mice, the lead balls certainly do have more penetration than steel bb's of similar velocity. But, the pistol can also shoot standard diabolo waisted pellets. It works even better on little varmints with the pellets. They shoot straighter and hit a little harder than the round balls.

I finally got some lead BB's but they would not fire out of my pistol because they are not exactly round.
The reason I want lead BB's is that when I hut big game in the Fall, I often see Grouse at close range and would like to take them. No sense carrying a Pellet rifle when you are already carrying a CF.
The H&N pellets recommended above sound like they might fit the bill. However, the advertised weight is only 7.4 grains which I think is almost the same as steel?
