And the Stock is the primary reason that the rifle is cheap. Wonderfully accurate for the $$, horrible stock that begs to be changed/stiffened, bedded, etc...

Not only is the stock cheap. It lands itself to easy modifications such as bedding, forend stiffening and yadiyada. All and all, after a few hours of your owns mods, you'll have something that will challenge the best of them. Most people report .5 to .75" grouping OTB. I've found that the first shot is usuallay a flyer, that is easily corrected with the aforementioned mods. Nope, they're not a Kimber, Bansner, Dakota or what have you, but they'll shoot against ANY of them, ANY day and probably beat them all.
Thats it I am selling My mip-spec, and Tik Tacs & VSS's, may even sell all my sendaro's, and Rem varminter HBs . All the reports i hear I would not go up against one with my 6mm PPC,s! #### dont need that sinclair crap either...just need a sand bag and a 200.

P.S sorry bud not making a smart ass remark about the groups, it just seems all these rifles are reported to shoot as good or better than a higher quality or tactical rifle that I seen? Maybe its just the guns are that accurate?
300wm, I've just spent the evening watching some inspiring 300wm vs watermelon, ice jug, cantaloupe, etc videos on youtube. I'll need to get a scope before I can have any fun with it though, in my excitment at the store, I didn't even notice it doesn't have any form of sights on it, until I got home.
I think it's funny, stevens are the only gun I've never seen anybody wanting to see pics when people talk about getting them. That's the beauty of a red headed step-child I suppose, I'm not going to be too worried about scuffs etc.

I dunno.... seen some mighty nice stock painted 200's in nice scope/ring set-ups that didn't hurt the eyes too much. Sure, they're not a Bartell custom but what the heck, eh?
If they are painted sure, if they are stock, we all know what they look like. My savages don't print any smaller groups than any of my other rifles, they will all shoot with the right load, my Tikka and Vanguard are actually more consistent.
Trigger adjustments
I did a little work on a couple Stevens 200 this past summer at one of my outdoor ranges for some people. I have a single shot Savage 110 action that the trigger setup was way off when I first got it. A simple screw adjustment to the trigger spring, #5 on the link below, was all that was needed for the Stevens 200's. Just leave enough tension so that banging the rear of the buttplate hard onto a surface will not trip the sear. 3lbs is about right.

Fore stocks on them were quite flexible. Rest them close to the action screw for most consistent results.

Just returned fron the range where I fired my recently acquired Stevens 200 in 223. It shot 5 shot groups of .780 and .81 with handlods and 1.30 with WW white box ammo....my Rem 700 shot .760 with handloads and 1.24 with the WW ammo.....can't see the attraction to the Stevens....
Hmmmm....groups just as well as a rifle costing 3x as much
Don't take a math wizz to figure that out for a gopher buster (burn it out while your customs cool)

How bout price? .... I just bought one of those SIR $299 Stevens as well.
In the meantime, if I come across a new (or used) $299 Remington 700 in .223, I'll prolly sell the Stevens, but I'm not holding my breath.
