Hey all

What's the going rate for m1 carbine magazines, genuine usgi 5/15 and 5/30? I'm looking to buy some and may have come across some but not sure what they're worth.

Thanks

There is no going rate...

There are so few originals for sale these days that many sellers just conjure up a number that they think they're worth and hope someone pays.

Have in mind a price you would be comfortable paying and hope for the best.

I paid $40 CAD for a rusted 4/15 USGI IA magazine from Ellwood epps, so consider that a lower bound. As Jakester says they are worth exactly whatever you are willing to pay for it.

+1 on these mags. I run USGI and KCI and they run just as good. Only time will tell if the nubs last. 5/15 are good but stay away from any 5/30 except USGI.

This is my experience as well. The 5/30 KCI mags don’t feed as reliably as my USGI 5/30s.

I like the KCI mags mainly because that when you run them dry, the action stays open, until you remove the mag, great indicator to reload! Good indicator during 3 gun matches. I used my M1 Carbine during 2x 3 gun matches last year and frankly, personally I find the 5/15 rd mags are easier to change on the clock. While the M1 Carbine is not as ergonomic as the AR 15, being over 75 years old, made of wood and metal, not black plastic and aluminum, it hasn't made Junior's or Poly's hit list (yet).

I'm the opposite, I find the bolt hold on the kci magazines annoying, but I'm not doing competition with them.
Last time I bought usgi magazines, pinned by an importer who can't be named on here:
3 x USGI, Magazine, M1 Carbine, 15 Round (FA-A254-C-MR) = $104.97, USD
