Hey guys,

Just wanted to show you the completed Norwegian Krag M1912 Carbine I just got back. It started life as a typical sporter with the wood cut down but the barrel is still the correct length. It had also been drilled and tapped on the side for a peep sight. I gathered up the requisite parts from Numrich and sent the whole lot to Nick at Vulcan Gun Refinishing. As it had been D&T'd I told him not to worry about redoing the metal finish - I'll hold off on doing that until I can find a better, more worthy example. Nick and his crew tackled making the stock and handguards pretty much from scratch. As you can see from the pictures (they sent me dozens throughout the process!) they did a great job. Everything is right and tight and the finish is great. We didn't drill the stock for the cleaning rod as I don't have one and have never seen one out in the wild! If I ever track one down then perhaps I'll be able to finish it off. I can't thank or recommend Vulcan enough - they did an awesome job! Don't hesitate to contact them if you have a major project you want to get going with. Now, if there is enough interest, I may send the rifle to Prestigous to get some copies of the stock and handguards made up. Please comment below if you'd be interested in a stock set - it's an expensive proposition to tool up to make a set so I'd need to know if there is a demand.

Very interesting project. I have two complete and functional barrels and actions and one sporter stock. I normally switch them back and forth depending on whether I want 6.5 Swed or 6.5 MS.

Beautiful restoration job! I think getting prestigious to have a copy available is an excellent idea, they could probably figure out how to make one for the long rifle based off yours. Again awesome restoration job!

Funny you should say that. I actually found a sporterized 1894 Long Krag with the full 30" barrel and bayonet lug still intact. I also found a full length stock and the correct handguard to match on eBay. That's my next project - just need to find the correct barrel bands. I was thinking about sending it to Prestigous once it's all complete and together but I don't know what kind of market there would be for the full length stock. All the 1894 Krags I've seen, with the exception of the one I lucked into, have had the barrel cut down.
