Go with the hard chrome. Nickle plating is a 19th Century solution that tends to wear off over time. Hard chrome doesn't. It just polishes itself.

GREAT resource, thanks for the link, I think I'm going to get some work done there. It's also great to know about the hard chrome finish option.
