First Gopher in 2022

Funny, I was thinking about the upcoming gopher season today. I want to get some new glass on my T1X before they are up enmasse. I better get on that.

I just bought the short barrelled T1X for grouse this year, my son has an extra Leupold gathering dust he put on it. Now I just have to get it back from him, he says his eight year old son can’t bear to part with it. I’m thinking it’s more my 35 year old son who doesn’t want to part with it.

Jeez, I always pine for gopher season. I found what may be a gold gopher mine close to home. I'll have to go and talk with the land owner.

I've got my babies all lined up, ready to go:

Now why in the hell does someone need that many!?! That’s absurd!

Just kidding that’s amazing! Which is your go to?

I shoot mostly .22lr, so I guess the Canadian, American, St. Patrick's, Southern Cross (Bushman Special), and American Red get the most work. I do use the Canadian and American .17hmr and .22mag, mostly the .17's. The FS on the end is a 452 .22lr. I did take it one day. As you can see, all but the American .22mag have various models of Leupold scopes. I didn't have a Leupold for the oddball at the time, and it shot so nice, I've left it on. I use anything .22lr that's hollow point. I'm shooting gophers, not competing in the olympics, so super dooper accuracy isn't a fixation.

I do like shooting the .17's. With ammo three or four times the price of .22lr, they don't see heavy use.

Hey kjohn , you do like the Leupolds & CZ's..
Nice Line !

I'm a real fan of the HMR .17 just a little harder
to spot your shots on paper. Hang the cost..

It balances out, your winter season is shorter, I think. Kind of funny, my brother just moved from North Carolina to Cobourg, Ontario because they have mild winters.

Coburg is way south of where we are... we have snow from Mid-November through to May... so, not such a short winter... however, for mental health reasons, we try not to think about spring, at least until March, otherwise it is a "Netflix & Uncontrollable Weeping" situation.

It sounds like your winter season is very similar to our season. Way too long and way too cold, forecast -30 here tonight.

No matter what the marmots say tomorrow, we'll have a minimum of 6 more weeks of winter here. It's waaay too long... white Thanksgiving, white Halloween, white Remembrance day, white Christmas, white Valentine's day, white Easter... occasionally a white Victoria day :-/

But the other 4 months are awesome!
