First Gopher in 2022

No matter what the marmots say tomorrow, we'll have a minimum of 6 more weeks of winter here. It's waaay too long... white Thanksgiving, white Halloween, white Remembrance day, white Christmas, white Valentine's day, white Easter... occasionally a white Victoria day :-/

But the other 4 months are awesome!
That sounds horrible and slightly racist. We are surprised CBC is not complaining about the colour of snow.

Jeez, I always pine for gopher season. I found what may be a gold gopher mine close to home. I'll have to go and talk with the land owner.

I've got my babies all lined up, ready to go:

^now there is a man taking full advantage of the gophers he's lucky enough to have around. :) Inspirational, and I mean that! Damn I need to live in the west. lol

Coburg is way south of where we are... we have snow from Mid-November through to May... so, not such a short winter... however, for mental health reasons, we try not to think about spring, at least until March, otherwise it is a "Netflix & Uncontrollable Weeping" situation.

^as a fellow Ontarian, I concur. Even in the south here, I've had enough winter...and we're actually GETTING a winter this year. Not that I wanted it.

Our spring 2022 gopher trip is a go (nephew and I) and I quite literally think about it every single day. Ours is a .22LR/17HMR affair. 17HMR is honestly hard to beat for the job, but I run my .22 almost exclusively. It's a ton of fun to see how the shooting improves by the end of the week, and I feel it's made me a better shot overall. We're often offered other guns/calibers to try, one rancher called me saying "you need to try my new 17WSM when you get out here-you'll love it".

2022 is looking pretty good! :)
