Speer Bullets

I've used them in the past in my 7x61 very reliable cup and core bullets I have had good results with Speer haven't used them much for the past 20-25 years just because of availability but I generally have preferred them to the Hornady offerings
Cheers Tony

go with the sierra 120 grain for anything out to 150 yards, 100 grain if you can find them, a little faster, and a little flatter out of your 7mm creedmoor imposter.........

I found them to be reliable on broadside shots but a little fragile for shoulder or frontal shots, accuracy was it's downfall for me it was not that great. 7mm RM was the cal. I would think at 7-08 speeds they would be great for deer.

I never used Speer in 7mm, so maybe no help? I use Speer HotCor (flat base) 165 grain in 308 Win - since 1980's (?). I notice that the Speer SPBT are NOT HotCor, for whatever difference that might make? My "go to" for my 7x57, when I hunted with that one, was 150 grain Partition. I have taken several dozen deer with both the 308 Win and the 7x57, over the years. Like many, most years I got one tag only - so did not really want to "take a chance" on a different bullet - stayed with what had worked for me, until a reason for changing - as was the case with Sierra 165 SPBT - very, very accurate, but came apart - too easily, to me - on a white tail doe spine - so I switched to the Speer HotCor - but have never replicated that shot or impact again...

130 speer BTSP, CFE223 45.4 gr 2950fps 7mm-08 rem (Kimber Ascent)...only a few black bears, exits holes both times :)

Never used the 130gr specifically. But used a pile of Speer SPBT in other rifles. 180gr in the 30-06 which took 2 Elk. 225gr in the 338 which had taken a few deer and numerous bears. Never had anything ask questions.

Speer makes good bullets. They may not be the toughest bullets on the market but they're as good as most and better than some.

I quit using them because they were hard to come by in the same lot in quantity.

The shops I frequented were bringing them in at a trickle. Even the distributors were shipping "mix lot codes"

I really liked the Speer Mag Tip bullets for larger game, in 338, 8mm, 30, 7mm

The rest of their line is just fine. I liked the Mag Tips because they shot well in my rifles.

I like the hotcores,. Grand slams, and the bonded deep curls for hunting. I use the basic cup/core for plinking, they are all pretty accurate, just find their basic cup core a bit too thin in the jacket.
Have a bunch of 7mm 175gr deepcurls picked up on clearance that should last me a lifetime.
