Based on some advice from this board I went to the local shop to get a price on Savage 12FV in .308. When I mentioned I was looking for a tactical type rifle to double as hunting rifle he suggested a 10FP instead. I didn't have a whole lot of time to get into it so I said I'd get back to him. They appear pretty similar to me other than barrel length and the 10FP is a bit more expensive. Any input here on one over the other?

I'm sure someone else will correct me if I'm wrong...

but when I went through this last summer I found that there was no difference, other than the barrel length and the price... at least from what I saw.

Its been discussed before and I think the general idea expressed was that its like paying extra just to say its "officially" tactical.

Ok, thanks guys. I like the 20" barrel on the 10FP since there's a lot of brush in the areas I'll be hunting so maybe it is the way to go even if it's a bit more.

Same rifle different finish. The extra money for the 10FP is because it's on Savage's LEO page. Be prepared for a stunning muzzle flash with a 20" .208 barrel.
