Hello, I have two and I have shot the piss out of both of them, and they have never jammed on me. Takes a few shots to hit a gopher, but they do the trick. I also have a norc/bisley bushmaster in 7.62x39. It is quite accurate with the surplus ammo. Have a good one, Eric.

as of today i,m the owner of my first..it,s a made in china one:)with the spike poker thingy..
the wifey here asked why i needed a spike on the end of gun..
told her, its will be used to check, to see if the taters are done:evil:

You wont be dissapointed, the first model yugos are build like tanks and quite high quality for an SKS.

Shoot the hell out of it and it wont complain one bit. I even shot two whitetails with mine so far.
Cheers.

It showed up in the mail and it is great. Looks great...nice wood, everything is in excellent condition. Trigger is MUSH but I am told that is an SKS thing. I am super happy with it and wouldn't trade it for the world. It is exactly what I have been looking for.

Thanks for the site Calum!, I'v been looking for something like this :).

Glad your happy with it :). Shoot some for me.

Hahaha! Make sure you wipe the cosmo off it before you stick them taters, Don. Hope you have fun with it.

For the the factory 106 one, it's very hard to put the trigger assembly back after the cleaning, I have to step on it to put it back to the position. Is there something wrong with it? Another SKS is fine.

nope, nothing wrong esp when you dont say you are having a hard time removing the trigger guard , it may just be you need a technique of putting it back, heres what i do.

first i make sure the safety lever is in the ON position (pointing forward).

then i make sure the back of receiver is touching the stock, no gaps, then i place the rifle unside down on the table (before you put the top cover on) and holding the trigger over the catch with my left hand , i look down to see the catch protruding just behind the trigger guard, and then i give a big WACK!!!!! on trigger guard with the palm of my right hand and that usually works with all my SKSs.

Thank you, I figured out, it's just tight, nothing else... anyway better than loose :)

Two Chinese Norinco, one Russian. One of the Norinco SKS's was bought with a "duckbill" magazine in it, and it was a 40-rounder. (I'm in South Carolina). It was very unreliable with that thing on it. I bought two new 10-round duckbill mags, and they had FTF on the 9th round every time. I finally relented, and converted it back to its original configuration of 10-round internal mag. Perfect function ever since.

PS__I bought the Russian as "unfired", but had to clean some black residue from the front of the bolt, and traces out of the bore. It's a beauty, though.

sandlapper : welcome to the SKS forum.

you're right that most after market duck-bill mags are crap but i did find the 5 rd plastic ones works great.
