Hi

I would like to change my type 81 pistol grip. On the m10x I used to have it was sporting a hogue grip. Would like to get one to fit on the Chinese LMG. Anyone successfully got one installed? Any other recommendation as well?

Cheers

Fab Defense VZ58 grip fits mine very nice. Had to do a little bit of filing on the back side to shorten it slightly so it would fit inside the metal lip on the receiver. Also had to drill a couple holes about 1/8” into the bottom making recesses for a couple rivets that are under the grip. Huge improvement over the wood grip which my hand would completely swallow.

Nothing from gnutzguy on the hogue grip but I would assume it is the same procedure as the vz58 grip. I too find the wood grip to be anorexic and uncomfortable. I had the hogue grip on my old m10x and loved it. Ill keep this thread informed once I receive and install mine
Thanks

if the hogue grips are made for AK then the procedure are NOT the same cos only the VZ grips ALMOST fits the T81.

VZ and T81 grips are almost interchangeable.

Correct. I put a beaver barf pistol grip on my T-81 LMG for the meme. All I had to do with sand the tiniest amount off on the back of the grip in order for it to fit near perfectly.

Anyone know if the Magpul AK grip fits on a type 81?

I was happily surprised today - I discovered that my spare factory beaver barf Vz grip, and an aftermarket FAB one, both fit my T81 with no modifications whatsoever. I'll post some pics when I have a chance :)

The Yugo grips footprint is much smaller then a standard AK Bakelite. So the install was no different to the process i showed in my video. However what made the Yugo grip easier was the act of cutting 90% of the grip plate away since none of it would intersect with the Yugo grip anyways.

Id be tempted to try Russstock.com i havent ordered from them yet, but they are based in Russia and sell some pretty cool stuff.
