Just this morning (Feb 11) the Vortex Sparc 2 red dot went on sale at Cabelas Canada for $100 off ... marked down from $299 to $199. Worth noting is the fact that $199 is what I happily paid for a lesser Vortex Crossfire two weeks ago!! (At my local small-town firearms dealer here in southern Alberta.)
The Sparc 2 is a discontinued model but I believe that it is still an awesome deal. Two bases and a shim make for four possible mounting heights. Tethered caps ... but not Butler-Spec. The dot is a crisp 2 MOA. Auto shut-off after 12 hours. It comes (naturally) with the well-regarded no-hassle Vortex Lifetime Warranty.
This is an older but very proven model (see the 2014 date on the Youtube video) and not the newer $300 AR (or AR2) specific Sparc that uses a AAA battery mounted longitudinally in the base.
