I purchased this rifle recently. It is stamped Carl Gustav forward of the bolt but has very few other marks that I can see. It looks to be in in to nice of condition to be surplus, the bolt and bolt release are ‘jewelled’ but the bolt handle looks beat up like my other surplus bolts. I was told it’s a Model 1900 in 6.5x55, SN 249,###. There is what looks to be a “V” and a backwards “p” on the receiver. The safety is on the left side behind the bolt release.
It has a threaded barrel, and the trigger housing and blind mag assembly are steel.
I can’t figure out how to post photos, I can email them if that will be helpful.
Any input is appreciated!

This is what a 1900 action looks like.

Lots of these guns coming into Canada from the Sweden gun amnesty I believe. They are often beat up not from use but from storage and transportation after they were surrendered. Threaded barrels and larger bolt handles seem common.

Thanks for the photo. The safety on mine is on the other side. The rear of the bolt on mine is slanted.
I will look into posting photos, clearly it can be done.

Mine is not beat up at all (aside from the bolt handle), it is a beautiful sporter rifle with a Monte Carlo stock. Will try to post photos.
Thanks!

Looks like a sporter modified m96 action. It was quite common to mill bolt shroud and intall trigger with side safety.
Thats the first one I have seen with left hand safety.

Thanks! I can’t find any info on it (or about it). The left side safety certainly seems to be an anomoly.

Not really.

They are worthless in Europe and North American dealers buy them by the kilo.A tidy CG sporter sans scope is maybe $150 Canadian in Sweden, often they are simply given away.

Its not that they are not good Rifles, its that the working man can generally buy factory new and vintage guns sre unpopular.

Not really what? These guns are stacked on end like wood in big plastic containers, stored in warehouses and sold after a while. They are marked up. They aren’t bad guns but they are becoming increasingly popular in Canada.

Yes really.
What amnesty are you speaking of?

Most guns that are exported are bought from gunshops who in turn sell them to exporters. These exporters sell them to North America.

Each and every single gun, scope, sling, bullet turned into the cops gets destroyed. Its is never exported, that I can garantee you.

Sweden did an amnesty a few years ago and these guns are the result. I heard it from the owner of a Canadian company who is selling them.

He is telling fibbs.

Anyhow, the Rifle is question looks like it was put together by Lars Uno Vågesson. He used to own Värnamo Vapen.

If you search those names you will find some pictures of his work.

Some of his guns were sold under the " Viking" brand but that was mainly 1900 actions.

Sure maybe. But considering the 1000 used Swedish guns sitting at intersurplus and great north gun, just to name a few, it appears to be more then just the Swedish gunshop exports. Every one has shipping damage.

Hasn't Sweden got that thing you only allowed so many guns so to buy a new one you have to get rid of a old one.

Yes.

But you can shoot targets with your own machine pistols, own scilencers and AR15s with big magazines as well as .25, 32 caliber pistols.
So its not all bad.
