New R.E.M. 1100's

Harrison is Big Leo...Leo Harrison III. Yes he passed away a few years. He was a superb trapshooter. One of the best ever. I think you and I can agree to disagree on 1100's?! Lol

Yep sure can but you cannot name one gun like the 1100 that got so many into the shooting sports and won so many events over the years either
And still the first gun many are still using and starting with
Take care

You haven't been on the trap circuit in a long time. I have seen three 1100's in use on a trap field in the last 20 years. One the fellow we shoot registered with and the other a fellow who comes out to our club about 3 times a year before duck season starts to get a little practice in and I've shot at alot of clubs. The third was a friend who used to shoot a bit of both but quit shooting over 12 years ago. They just are not out there as much as you think. Its not the 60's to 80's any more.

For sure. My dad was the trap shooter and I hated it. Too easy IMO LOL
When he died like 40 years ago I stopped following it. I still see lots of 1100's doing trap with average joe's that just shoot for fun and like me don't trap follow or shoot registered targets

Must be local to your group or area I am guessing as I see next to zero in use for either including skeet and there used to be lots in use in that game. By the time I started getting involved in registered shooting(1986) they were already falling out of favour considerably and almost non-existent at most shoots by the 90's. In 1987 I shot off against Leo Harrison at The Grand and we both had 1100's. There was still several 1100 shooters at that shoot. In 1999 I was once again in a shoot-off with Leo at The Grand and neither of us had one at that point. I was shooting a Citori Plus and he had a Beretta combo but which model I do not know and though I am sure with 5000+ shooters in that particular event there had to be a few guys shooting 1100's I can honestly say I never saw one the entire week(2nd) I was in attendance. I did have a fellow squadded with me the next day though with both of us shooting from the 27 who was shooting a Model 12. I did see a few of those in use at the shoot.

I am talking small local clubs with like 150 members or less not events or shoots
There sure must be some still being used since I have no issue selling parts for them or barrels etc etc. Stuff won't last a day in the EE like triggers , bolts etc
In fact have a list of names that will take everything I have
Cheers

You might find this interesting since the closure. Don't look dead to me

A Tournament shooter may wear one out the average Joe not a chance . Most shoot them better than what is out there today . Browning Winchester Beretta auto loaders all require service work but in my world all gas auto loaders need maintenance , You can still pick up a 1100 at a good price grabbed one for $365 as new the other day. Good bang for the buck .

I have a ton of different shotguns and none come out of the box and fit me like a 1100 did/ does. They seem to fit most people well which is why I think most that use them shoot them well. Not to mention pattern one of the old fixed choke barrels
All I can say is sweet :)
Cheers

Couple of our guys shoot custom 1100 with simmons barrels & high ribs for turkey shoots.Have to admit have not seen many in either skeet or trap in the last couple years except myself with the competition 1100 on the skeet field. So 3Macs the 1100 came out in 1963 in 12g when did the 28g appear?

I think 69. I bought a matched pair in skeet 410 and 28ga and still have two sets of those. Plus other 1100's in 28ga

This is the one I bought many years after

Question on 1100 is the trigger group the same for both 3" and 2 3/4 guns ? I believe that they are the same but some"know everything about everything" at the club said there was internal differences. I call BS but to the oracles I turn :)

These accounts of 1100's not getting through 100 targets without a breakdown mean that the gun is worn out and changing parts is only extending the misery. I have no doubt my 1100 field grades would run 100, 200 or more targets with no issue.

Darryl

I concur. I have 1100s that I have fired two or three hundred rounds out of at a time. But, of course they are nowhere near worn out. Nothing lasts forever. Except O rings, of course. I can't remember the last time I changed out an O ring. Though I have plenty of spares.
