get the gorilla series tree stands.. they are a hang on type and are super durable, cheap, and comfertable( I always carry a seat with me though)
depending on how fat you are you can get away with the baby kong( im 160lbs 5'8") and they are big enough to stand up in and you can reposition your a$$ in them if an animal is not playing by the rules... the best part is that once/twice a yr they go on sale at crappy tire/ or walmart for $69.....
they also have bigger sizes but you pay abit more, but they are still really good.. the big one have huge platform and huge wide seats so your a$$ wont get as sore as fast....sitting in them all day is definitly not a problem
I live in North Western Ontario and I hang all my tree stands in balsam fir or spruces...I hunt private property so I don't worry at all about leaving the stand in the tree for the whole season either..so if thats a problem for you, than you need to pick up a climber... I have no experience with them except to say.. do not climb smooth barked trees with the climber.. especially on frosty mornings( think slippage)..also you have to keep in min that you are limited to certain trees to climb because you need delimbed ones.... that often means passing up great spots because there isn't a suitable tree to climb...plus who really wants to lug those things in and out with a packsack a bow/rifle and a seat every time you go out.....my $.02
