Bargain of the week! Stevens 200 rifle for $232.

id have ordered one in 300 win mag but wtf? it only applies to in-store? thats retarded. they are a mail-order company!

the groundhog hit the nail on the head -- you can go in and waste a salespersons time for an hour and walk out with a gun at $60 less than what someone who just flat out orders it online gets? my opinion of SIR just plummeted.

Well I picked one up, actually a friend picked it up for me. It seems to me to be a very well built gun short of the stock:eek:
BUT!
If I take this thing to the range and it shoots dimes at 100yrds then I guess I will throw away all my smithing tools because there will be no point in building guns if I can buy them for $232 :runaway:

Basically a bic lighter, ....I'll throw it away after its empty and get a new one:)

Sounds like a rip-off! The Stevens 200 is only worth about $100. :p

For that price, I'll take three then.... ;) :D :p

But seriously, I wouldn't mind a .243 at the $232 price. Too bad ya can't get it mail-order from a mail-order store. It's a long way to drive from BC.... :(

Went to SIR last week to buy one in .243, still priced at $299. The $232 only applies to the 7mm and .300WM. As much as their instore policy sucks, they're still a better store than the new Wholesale Sports that opened up down the street.

Howz about all us mail order people fire off a pissed off email.....I'm first....I've mail ordered from SIR for 30 years....perhaps no more.....

"Hi,
I have been ordering from you folks for nearly 30 years....now I understand you are offering Stevens 300 mag rifles for 232$ but for "walk in" customers only....is that true??? I was going to order one as my "back up" moose rifle but now when I hear that walk in folks on their first trip into the store get better treatment than 30 year customers, I'm having second thoughts...

Thanks"

I just ordered a marlin 795 from them for $129-cheapest price anywhere-then ordered a scope to go with it.Why can't they offer the stevens 200 for the same price they offer it for walk -ins?Doesn't make sense

question-can you have a friend who lives there walk in and buy one in your name on your PAL and have it shipped direct from SIR to you?

The outrage over $60 and a Stevens rifle is staggering....:runaway:

One gunnut has already offered to go buy for others and ship it out. If the $60 is so important, why not take advantage of it?;)

Because it's far more time consuming and Fun to ##### about it online forever........:p

Well I too would like to take advantage of that sale, but I am sure that the sale price is down around their cost and they want to take advantage of the walk in customer who they can possibly "up-sell". For example, charge full mark-up on bases, rings and scopes, etc. I am willing to bet there is a "charge" to install the scope and bore-sight it.

What we should try to do is find some Winnipeg CGN'ers to take our money (EMT) and go in and clean them out. Rifles only, nothing else.

Any takers?

be happy to do that, I dislike the service there, so i'd be happy to buy them and send them to you, let me know if you want any.

Their reply......

"Our pricing policy is consistent. In most cases the mail order & store prices are the same but from time to time there can be a difference.
The retail store pricing can be different as we must price according to local competition or there may be a store promotion which requires personal shopping.
It is our desire to treat every customer fairly and in this case we believe the 232.99 is a limited time special for the Boxing Week time frame and does require personal shopping. Sorry this offer is not available by mail order.
Regards "

$232.99??? Sounds like a real gem. Does it have the wooden trigger? At $232 you have to wonder what shortcuts were taken? Myself i would invest the $232 into something you know is going to last.

Exactly. Now if it were a Remington 710 that would be different. ;)

I've been in Winnipeg in January. I don't begrudge anyone who lives there a discount on anything, especially a Stevens.

Buckley's "looks awfull but it works!"

I have the stevens 200 in .308 win and it'll shoot sub MOA with the right ammo.
Thanks to it's light weight and budget price no one will mind packin' it all day
even when the gooin' gets rough! I'm a mauser fan but the stevens is what i packed this year for my mule hunt. $232 is a steal for a stripped down savage
of this quality or maybe I just got a goodun'.
