1911 22LR conversion kits

I ordered one from Target Sports day before Xmas. They just got a shipment in that same day. I don't know how fast they sell but they were the only store I had found that actually had them in stock. It is a Kimber and its going on top of my Norc 1911. I think it cost about $300 and change. This will be my first conversion kit and I will post results after some range time with it.

BTW, I would jump at a chance to get a Marvel unit but there aren't any of them in Canada.

Wouldn't mind one of these [I believe they are Marvels made for Wilson combat]... :cool:

What about on a commander sized frame? The dust cover is a bit shorter on the commanders. I imagine that there will be a bit of a gap behind the front part of the slide, but will it still work well?

Any word on the Advantage Arms conversion? I like the last round lock open on this model which is not present on the Kimber.

Anyone know where to get one of these and how much? I e-mailed Police Ordnance as I know they stock the Glock modelbut haven't gotten back to me.

with these conversion kits - is it possible to practice some with 22 and then dress your 1911 into ,say, 45ACP and keep firing on the same practice session?

It takes about 60-90 seconds to swap the top ends after you get a bit of practice.

No permits or licence required, these are gun parts not a gun.
The marvel kit that wilson markets is one of the nicest on the market and shoots very well. It actually has a heavy match grade barrel installed and fully adjustable sights. P & D has them
$ 495.00

The Kimber conversion does not leave a gap on the Norinco commanders.
The dust cover overlaps by about 1/8 of an inch.

I think a softer mainspring would help though as mine sometimes does not cycle enough to fully #### the hammer...

It's too bad Marvel does not have a distributor in Canada......the Wilson combat conversion made by Marvel sells for $320US down south.
