Streamlight TL Racker does not fit? Mossberg 590

Did I receive the wrong forend or something?

See how much longer the forend is compared to where the forend nut has to screw into?

Box says it will fit 500 or 590 shotguns. Does not fit on a regular 590 or 590a1.

Anyone else have this happen? Is some modding required?

Looks like you've got a short-barrel/Shockwave set of action bars on there, the tube on the action bars comes in two lengths. Unfortunately that's not fitting without some cutting. It's same thing with the magpul forends. If you see someone with a magpul forend on a shockwave or 14 inch barrel 590 they've probably modified it, or bought one pre-modified.

I wonder if streamlight makes a version of the racker for shockwaves and short barrels? If that's the case you might be able to return it and get the right model.

Ahhh yep I tried on two 14'' barrel set ups. Didn't realize that there were different lengths... looks like they do make a shockwave version. Thanks for that.

Happy to help. It caught me by surprise too. Got home with my magpul forend figuring I had a 5 minute job ahead of me then ended up having to breakout the gun mutilator 5000 (dremel) and run down to CT to grab a hole saw.

Good to know the Racker comes in a shockwave length! :shotgun:

Is that streamlight unit any good? Read some bad reviews of the 2 half molds having shoddy seams. Any truth to it? I like the product in theory.

Its a decent self contained, very bright light for the price.
I did have the pressure pad on mine fail , sent it in for warranty and they sent me back a new unit, the turn around time took forever.
Over all , very happy with it, only wish they had of added a master/kill switch to it , to avoid accidentally activating the light when you don't want to , its a small gripe , but , still , would of made a good set up better.

What tool is needed to swap out the fore end for the streamlight on my Shockwave? For those that have done it, what tool works?

I used a pair of needle nose pliers. Simply expend the pliers in the castle nut and turn - worked like a charm.
