Hi all,

I'm trying to find a combo gun in 7.62x54R and 12GA, as I'm aware a few manufacturers made them. I haven't seen them on the EE, and it's like they don't exist? Anyone know of shops I could check out?

As well, has anyone had any experience with combination guns like this before? Are they what they're cracked up to be? I really want an ancient Soviet 2-in-1 haha.

I have seen one for sale right here on CGN, russian made, I think MTs 106 17...? was too rich for my blood... so they exist and in Canada too. And I am looking for one too but at a more reasonable price. Maybe the buyer will pipe in and tell us how he's enjoying it :)

I believe that the combination gun was more of a European thing so you're more likely to find one in x57R.

Yeah I've seen a ton of them for cheap over at intersurplus, but I just have a ton of 54R laying around and not a lot of obscure Euro cartridges... I'd be interested in getting one in x39 as well, for obvious reasons :p

This article said the MP-94 came chambered in 54R, so this is currently what my hopes are riding on haha. I'd be interested in importing one from the states, but I can't even find one over there for sale.

I believe that caliber version was never imported into Canada. The old Baikal Canada website only lists 308, 223, and 30-06. IZH Impex Inc was the only importer/distributor in Canada.

The MP-94 was labeled IZH-94 in Canada.

At the time I was looking for the Baikal IZH-94/MP-94 in 30-06 .... Even 4 years ago they were hard to find ... could not find one. And then I found a brand new BRNO in 12ga/30-06.

There was a guy selling a couple on the EE but he was asking a lot for them. WTB ad might bring him out if he doesn’t see this thread.

Do you know if BRNO still make combo guns? I've been looking around in the usual spots but can't find anywhere in stock. My neeeext choice would be 30-06, since I'm planning on going down the garand rabbit hole soon enough and I don't like having obscure expensive calibers. 12ga 30-06 sounds about right, if 54R is really as exotic as it's looking :p

Ah, right. Can't post WTB yet, I tried the other classifieds site, but if that doesn't work out then I might put one up here. Definitely hard to track down.

My gun was made in 2015 I believe production stopped shortly afterwards, ... and I can’t find any reference on the web anymore that they are still produced. However, it seems some European retailers still have new (old) stock. So, some are still around on the market.

Combination guns and drillings are a European thing.

When I was shopping for one I was looking at the following makers.

There are of course the Germans … Blaser, Merkel, Krieghoff and Heym. However, the cheapest one of those would probably be around 3000 Euros (CAD $4300.-) plus exporting/importing fees and shipping, … and you probably be waiting for close to a year till you can hold that gun in your hands.

Then there are the Italians. Antonio Zoli makes one that I see listed as ca. 2500 Euros.
And then there is also Fair and Fausti who make combination guns.

And in France you have Verney-Carron.

Voila, hope this helps …
