Wolves in B.C.

lmfao. I would love to see all these 140-170lb wolves hanging on a scale. My old man's went into the BC book, weighing 103lbs on a half full stomach. Taxi Ed Harder in PG said it was one of the 5 biggest he's seen in 30 years. lmfao.

BTW wolves are vicious killing machines and they should all die :jerkit: I must ask, where did you guys get your degrees in ecological sciences? Looks like the DANA crowd has been in the moonshine again :D

Wolf weight

From the British Columbia Museum, Handbook #11, The Mamals of BC,
Dr. Ian Mctaggart Cowan, third edition, Oct. 1965.

Page 281, (on wolves.)
"Maximum weights reach and very occasionally exceed 140 pounds."

Kris, It's called life experience rather than spoonfed curriculum;)

I've seen one wolf take down two cariboo in three days. It is amazing to see the damage they do to animal of that size in such a small amount of time. He bit throat, and the backbone close to the shoulders.

You'll find my old man somewhere in the top 50 bonsey :D Anyone preaching a wolf bigger than 110lbs had better have a picture of it hanging from a scale before I buy it, that's all

Hey horshur, I'm 2 years farther in than browningmirage. He likes to talk more than me though. I'm sure you get the idea. I've been wandering bc bush since I could keep the butt from dragging.

You've been a bc boy all your life and you've just found out there's wolves bigger than 110 lbs now?!?

You're not screwing it up with metric are you? 110 kilos WOULD be a very unusually big wolf.

My boss lost 3 cattle and one buffalo to COYOTES this year, the freaking things are running in packs, after haying he said they would sit on top of the bales in packs of 6-14 animals.

Wolves are getting just as bad around here, especially around pink mtn, and the mile 73 area. Also bears are making a comeback.... again when haying the farm hands counted 28 bears between 2 freshly cut fields (boss owns 3 sections of land so the fields are huge)

I always thought wolves were more german shepherd size. By the pics and weights they are a hell of a lot bigger.

out here the COYOTES are german shepard size.... the freaking wolves will be four feet off the ground to the top of thier back easily, long legs and usually skinny ####ers but they look a little goofy because of the legs.

Yeh and you have wasted at least 14 years of it stuck in school just like most of us....the real education begins after school.

there is this wonderfull thing called GOOGLE I made it to 90 out of 216000 to get these pics from various outfitters and hunting magazines.
now if wolves only get to 100 pounds/ish as stated by some of the younger veiwers then by these photos most human males are 100 pounds/ish as well? I think not!

You sure like pictures :D Maybe you should go back to your picture books :D

Horshur, bud, I skipped a lot of class, but I'll admit I spent more of that time with a rod in hand than a rifle.

The average height of a wolf ranges from 0.6 to 0.9 meters (26–36 inches) and its weight typically varies between 32 and 62 kilograms (70–135 pounds). The heaviest wild wolf on record, killed in Alaska in 1939, was 80 kg (175 lb). Wolves can measure anywhere from 1.3 to 2 meters (4.5–6.5 feet) from nose to the tip of the tail, which itself accounts for approximately one quarter of overall body length.
