Hello and happy new year to all.
I was thinking that with the new rules at HK, since they can now sell the cool stuff to civies, why doesn't someone import G36 and UMP direcly from germany to avoid all the USA BS ?
Wouldn't mind getting one of these G36 rifles for a reasonable price.

Just because they made a civilian-approved semi model of the 416/417 doesn't mean they were suddenly allowed to sell G36's and MP5's at their own discretion. They are still tightly regulated by the German Federal Government.

What he said. But if you want to shoot a G36, just let me know...and bring lots of ammo:50cal:

I wonder if the availability of the HK416 will eventually get them selling G36s as well.

I'd love to score a G36 at a realistic price! I'm hoping that the HK416 or MR223 as they're calling it isn't going to be some ugly POS civvie model.

I wonder if you could fit the MR223 upper on an AR15 lower, because the MR223 completer rifle will only accept single stack mags and will be a civie abomination.

It's not really their fault that

A. The german .gov wont let them export "military style" rifles

B. The American .gov threatens to ban all "assault weapons" every 10 years. Not really something that makes you want to invest hundreds of millions building a plant to manufacture rifles in the USA.

Did I miss something? Does this mean we can get 416's now? If yes where?

They're going to have to manufacture them here. If they do what they did with the SL8, it wont sell at all. Not when you have piston driven rifles from other companies that cost less, have the evil features, and can accept high cap mags. Then again, you do have those idiots out there who will buy anything with H&K stamped on the side.
