Deer ppc carbine

I can think of lots of reasons actually. Your opinion isn't stupid but it's far from well thought out and clearly not based on actual experience like many posts in this thread. A 9mm JHP takes deer as humanely as anything else suitable. I'm guessing you shoot them with a .300 Win Mag at a minimum..?

.270 Win, if that matters.

Really why is it that the clueless are everywhere now a days?

Did you not read my second sentence?

If there is a chance at all that the meat is not perfect I will feed it to my dogs if it is good we eat it.

Last cow I butchered up died giving birth I did not get there in time to save the meat for us so our dogs had stews made with it.

The one before that had a broken leg so I shot it from 40 yards because it would charge if anyone got closer it was in excellent shape so I had it butchered for us.

I have no idea how traumatized this yearling is from what I understand it jumped into the feeder catching its back leg it hung upside down with its head just off the ground with its leg caught on the rung on the side of the feeder for hours before they found it.

I have three dogs they average 150 lbs each

Picture is the cow that had the broken leg

Great info. Thanks for sharing

Took care of the yearling bull this morning

He weighed 191lbs hanging at the butcher

Used 14" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 45 Colt loaded with 345gr WLNGC's at 40 yards.

Scope is a Leupold 2.5x Compact LOL = the Boyds Gunstocks stocks were ordered purple/gray came pink/gray

Good job Camp.

Glad the problem got taken care of.

What was penetration?

Shot was straight on hit was between the eyes and 1" high when the head is in a position that would miss the body this is the shot I take whenever I have to put down an animal.

It was instantly DRT with full penetration found the gas check 2/3 of the way thru the neck when I cut the head off.

Thanks Geo...

Runt, sick, poor doer, tiny breed ? Status quo for that farm? Down or in pain when you got there?

Most recommend 2-10 inches with a bullet path down the spine. For good reason.

DRT of course , don't expect to see anything else on the ole interweb.

Very nice guns, but I don't think you can call them pistol caliber carbines.

why not? 44 is pistol calibre and it's a carbine... no different than a new Ruger PCC or Marlin Camp or Kriss.. all PCCs .. even the M1 Carbine is by many considered a pcc.

If you wanted to argue 5.56 is a pistol calibre, otherwise many of us wouldn't have our 10 rounders !

I am not finding a Ruger bolt action .357 for sale anywhere.

Exactly. Of course, many of the PCCs under consideration are cooler in appearance.

Sorry all, I saw carbine and 40 yard shot and I went a little wacky. Not PCC, but damn sweet nonetheless.

This last fall I carried my 18" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 10mm loaded with 135gr JHP's @ 2050fps, 200gr XTP's and WFNGC's @ 1500fps also carried my 20" barreled stainless Puma M92 in 454 Casull.

I did not get the chance to use them on anything ended up using my 14" barreled Contender carbines in 338JDJ #2 and 375JDJ.

That’s pretty sweet, I love the 10mm cartridge. As a hand loader the 10mm makes sense for any pistol caliber hunting but .44mag would be another time tested game killing round, there just something about 10mm I love shooting though.

We have a Rossi M92 Trapper model in 44 mag we hardly ever pull it out of the safe though grab the 20" barreled Puma M92 45 Colt/454Casull first here what it can do.

This is a family friend shooting it

Little info on my loads

This is what my 14" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 45 Colt is capable of

Here it is set up for my wife

135 gr at 2050? Damn that's zippy. Any issues with fragmentation or uncontrolled expansion?

I've never recovered one so can't say

Now that I live in Alberta I'm packing this 10mm around to try on coyotes - fox but have only been shooting my 180gr and 200gr XTP loads so far.

I'm setting up my reloading bench at our new house right now put the bullets I have onto shelves this morning I see I only have one more box of the Nosler 135gr bullets but I have lots of IMR800X and BlueDot powder so will get more of these together soon.
