The fact that ppl think green tip is anywhere close to AP shows how much misconception there is. These plates in particular are 20+ years old so I would really like to see how they hold up, but I think it's more likely they sold them all cause it's business and money. Please let us know frontier.
The Level III conditioned armor is tested against a 7.62mm FMJ (M80 military) weighing 147 grain and a muzzle velocity of 2,780 ft/s. A 7.62mm FMJ is normally fired from an AK-47 style rifle or a sniper rifle.
Level III will stop most of all 5.56mm and 7.62mm bullets, but will not defeat military-grade armor-piercing ammo. For example, a NATO M855 5.56 x 45mm bullet with a 62-grain steel core will defeat a Level III armor system. It will, however, defeat a 5.56 x 45 mm bullet at 55 grain.
Level III will defeat a 7.62 x 51mm 147 grain (M80) FMJ fired from an AK-47 style rifle. It will not defeat an M2 AP 7.62mm x 63mm or 7.62 x54R API (BXN) fired from a Dragunov Sniper Rifle.

I think most if us here know that. 30-06 (7.62x63) armor piercing is the standard for Level IV. The question is will these plates stop 5.56 greentip with 10 grain penetrator NATO spec.
If they are going to the Ukraine it wld be interesting to see if they stop 5.45x39 which is the common AK74 round.

I would seriously hope if someone was traveling all the way to the Ukraine, to get put on the front lines and get shot at, they would be getting something better than these surplus, expired questionable plates to put in their vest...
That being said, I most certainly bought a set and they are awesome. Still wouldn't want to bet my life on them though.

I was complaining about the carrier/plate combo in another thread. Main complaint was that the carrier was a cheap airsoft vest and the value of the plates didn’t make up the difference.
So I took the plates out and shot them at the range today.
A couple things that were interesting:
Stopped 9mm FMJ and trapped all the spawl
.45 FMJ glanced upward and into what would be the wearers skull
12ga slug hit and left a crater but no trace of the round anywhere
.308 FMJ stopped and delaminated the plate and spawl exited the plate.
The larger plates did fairly well at holding together, the smaller side plates delaminated and blew apart.
NONE of the rounds penetrated through. There was massive deformation but zero pass through

They are significantly lighter. Like 1/4 the weight. For anything most people wld encounter they will fit the bill and then some. No one is wearing these into a war. But they are plenty good for the range or whatever realistic scenario you wld want them for.
